Some wish Gia Giudice would keep out of her family drama, but she’s an adult and young woman now. She’s allowed to speak out about her loved ones, and the impact their fractured relationships has had on her. Of course, the most troubling is the dead-and-buried relationship between Gia’s mom, Teresa Giudice, and uncle and aunt, Joe and Melissa Gorga.
Ever since Joe and Melissa joined The Real Housewives of New Jersey back in Season 3, there have been unsettling fights caught on film. Gia has grown up around that chaos, and had chances to watch it all back on TV. Grudges are easier to hold against family when you’re constantly reminded about them for a television show.
Extra’s Billy Bush spoke with Gia, alongside Teresa, about everything that’s gone down. Here’s what they had to say.
Gia says “unsettling” drama is bad for “mental health”
Asked about the drama between her mom and aunt, Gia said: “I definitely think it’s a little unsettling.” “I can only do so much,” she continued, “and just the whole aspect of just keeping our mental health good and just trying to move forward as a family and really focusing on us.”
It seems as though Gia is on board with Teresa’s plan to keep that chapter of their life “closed.” A sad move for sure, but one that might be best for everybody involved – at least for right now.
Teresa also hinted that there was some “evidence” that would leave her vindicated, and validated, in RHONJ Season 14. “Oh, definitely,” she said. “So you’ve heard, right?”
As for the holidays, Teresa and Gia will be spending it alongside Teresa’s new husband, Luis Ruelas.
“Typically, every year we spend Christmas at home, so we do Christmas Eve with my mom, wake up in the morning then go by my dad’s [Joe Giudice] during the day,” Gia explained. “We typically go visit my dad for New Year’s, but this year we’re all going to visit my dad, including my mom and Luis.”
