Why Lindsay Hubbard Was Wrong To Accuse Carl Of Being On Drugs

I’ve tried to be in Lindsay Hubbard’s corner for a while now. However, after a recent episode of Summer House, it is really hard to continue to give her the benefit of the doubt when it comes to her broken heart. Lindsay has not had the easiest path to love. Her break up with Carl Radke is just another notch in her very long belt of past lovers. But I am starting to think that the Hubb House owner is to blame for her failed relationship.

Lindsay Accuses Carl of Drug Use

My jaw hit the floor as I watched Lindsay lose control of her emotions and accuse her fiance of drug use. Throughout the episode, Lindsay accused Carl more than once of being on drugs. The first time she mentioned it was to her roommate Gabby Precod. She commented on his behavior that night. “Something’s going on with him,” she said. “The way he spoke to me tonight was very reminiscent of Carl on cocaine. I don’t know what happened with him, but he was not sober tonight.”

She then proceeded to dissect a text message from a very sober Carl. It felt like she wanted to do anything that would hurt the recovering addict because she had been wronged.

While at the club, Amanda Batula claimed Lindsay told her, “He’s so mean to me. I can’t do this. I think he’s on something.”It felt like Lindsay was trying to drop little Easter eggs in order to make Carl look bad. As you can imagine, things got worse back at the Montauk house, where Lindsay referred to her fiance as “Cocaine Carl.” Lindsay stuck to her guns even after Gabby called Carl and noted he “sounded like a sober man.” But why in the world would Lindsay even remotely think it was okay to question Carl’s sobriety, especially when he was so close to losing it all before becoming sober?

Was Lindsay Giving Herself an Exit?

At that moment, Lindsay seemed very calculating. She was coming off as a woman scorned, but the attitude didn’t justify the reaction. Kyle Cooke was in the same ride share when the original fight broke out. He noted that Lindsay went from zero to one hundred in the blink of an eye. The more I watch Lindsay in these unhinged moments, the more I believe she likes to be in full control of her relationships. However, the moment the man steps out of line, she finds a way to hurt them emotionally. Imagine an emoting taser, if you will.

Could it be that Lindsay was on to the fact that her future wedding and marriage weren’t going to work out? Was she trying to make herself look good so the blame would fall on Carl? Obviously, the fans and the roommates saw right through that diabolical plan. But I am still very confused as to why Lindsay thought that sort of outburst would work. And all I keep coming back to is maybe Lindsay is the one who needs to try being sober for a while.

The Apology

Almost immediately after the episode aired, Lindsay found herself getting immense backlash from Summer House fans. She jumped onto Instagram, releasing a statement. “After watching back this week’s episode, I wish I had used better wording,” the statement read. “I was emotional and hurt by what had transpired earlier in the night, and what I said was meant to be a private conversation at home with one of my best girlfriends.”

“I have never questioned his sobriety before this moment, and from day one, I was his biggest supporter. I have always been transparent on the show about my feelings and leaned on my friends for support, and that was my only intention here.”

But let’s be clear, Lindsay should have never questioned Carl’s sobriety, especially when she knew full well the house was mic’d up and filled with cameras. She did this to intentionally hurt Carl in an attempt to try to put him in his place for not agreeing with her feelings.
