Jax Taylor on Brittany Cartwright Split: ‘Something Definitely Wrong With My Brain’

It’s no longer sunny in The Valley. In fact, it’s full of shade, tears, and messy divorces. Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright have continued to share their truth on their podcast (When Reality Hits) and spill the beans about things we would’ve never guessed.

Just a few weeks ago, Brittany told her listeners about her recent break from Jax, citing her desire to take better care of her mental health. Since then, they’ve gone back and forth, with Britt confirming the lead-up to their current state of affairs will be shown during the freshman season of their new show.

In their latest episode, the Vanderpump Rules alums passionately discussed how they argue. Jax admitted he worries there’s something off with his brain, which causes him to lash out the way he’s known for on Pump Rules. “I don’t want to self-diagnose, but there’s something definitely wrong with my brain. I’m aware of that. I’m trying to figure that out,” he said. He followed up, however, saying he only behaves that way when he’s “backed into a corner.” But does Brittany feel the same?

Brittany isn’t taking any more of Jax’s mess

Bravo fans are familiar with Jax’s behavior from previous seasons of VPR and the explosive trailer for The Valley. He’s had epic fights with co-stars, including Tom Sandoval, Stassi Schroeder, and several others. But according to Brittany, his dark side comes out more often than not.

“You’re the one who starts stuff … all the time,” Brittany replied. “So, you can’t be like, ‘I’m only like that when I’m backed into a corner’ because you are the main issue a majority of the time.”

Jax and Brittany aren’t the only ones experiencing trouble in their relationship, though. Their castmates — Jesse Lally and Michelle Saniei — recently announced their split after six years together.

“Marriage is not easy. It’s a lot of work. There’s a lot of ups and downs,” Jax said in response to the news of their divorce.

The Valley premieres March 19 on Bravo, and streams the next day on Peacock.
