Katie Maloney’s Worst Moments on Vanderpump Rules

Katie Maloney has always been a polarizing figure on Vanderpump Rules. The 37-year-old’s no bulls*** attitude has made her a fan favorite to some, and a villain to others. While she’s certainly had some great moments over the years, we can’t overlook that some of her actions were far from justified.

In honor of Katie celebrating her 11th season on VPR, let’s take a look at some of her worst moments.

When She Hazed Lala

Katie and Lala Kent were joined at the hip in Season 10 but it wasn’t always that way. When Lala first joined the cast in Season 4, Katie wasted no time letting the new SUR hostess know she was not welcome. Not only did she tell on Lala for lying about a modeling job, but she basically implied her co-star was doing sexual favors for money. She also called her a whore, which was way out of line. Her treatment of Lala in Season 4 was not a good look and made her look jealous of the new girl. Not one of her best moments.

When She Sent Rage Texts

Katie’s rage texts will always be iconic but that doesn’t mean they’re justified. Over the years, she’s sent some pretty brutal text messages to her co-stars. Her ex-husband, Tom Schwartz, was most often the recipient of the rage texts. In Season 10, she sent her ex some harsh words after she caught wind that he had a thing for Rachel Leviss.

“I hate you,” one text message read.

“You are both trash,” she continued. “The kind of anger I feel for you, you can’t imagine.”

While Katie’s anger about the situation is justified, sending a series of hateful messages probably isn’t the answer.

When She Showed Up At Scheana’s Wedding

In Season 10, Scheana Shay uninvited Katie to her second wedding with Brock Davies after their falling out. If you thought Katie would handle the revoked invite with grace, you would be wrong. The VPR star went to Mexico anyway and even stayed at the same resort as Scheana and her wedding guests.

Scheana tried to tell Katie she didn’t feel comfortable having her energy around her on her wedding day but Katie didn’t seem to care. She showed up at the resort with her pal Kristina Kelly, the girl who made fun of Scheana’s wedding in Season 3. Not only did Katie stay at the resort but she invited Lala Kent on outings with her and Kristina, which created friction between Lala and Scheana.

Considering it was Scheana’s big day, we think Katie should’ve taken the hint and stayed home.

When She Shamed Scheana

In Season 2, Katie threw shade at Scheana after she gave Peter Madrigal a lap dance on his birthday. The gesture was in good fun and no one but Katie seemed upset about it. After telling Scheana she would never do something like that because she’s “practically engaged,” she proceeded to gossip about her co-star’s birthday gift with the rest of the girls. At one point, Katie referred to Scheana as a “whore,” adding yet another woman to the list of girls she has slut-shamed on VPR. Come on, Katie! We love you but it’s like Tina Fey said in Mean Girls, “You have got to stop calling each other sluts and whores. It only makes it okay for guys to call you sluts and whores.”

When She Wouldn’t Hear Anyone Else Out

We love Katie’s loyalty to Ariana Madix but I think she should be more open to hearing other people’s opinions. She has shut down any conversations that are not 100 percent pro-Ariana. I understand she doesn’t want to forgive Sandoval but she should at least hear what her friends Lala and Scheana have to say.

First, she shot down Scheana at brunch when she tried to bring up the Sandoval issue. Then, she shot down Lala when she tried to talk to Ariana about the situation at Astrology night. She should at least give them the space to talk.

Katie has certainly had her ups and downs over the years, much like the rest of us. She’s come a very long way and remains one of the core reasons people tune into Pump Rules.

Vanderpump Rules airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Bravo.
