Vanderpump Rules alums Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz showcased their bromance for years on the show. Eventually, the duo went into business together. In the case of their eatery, Schwartz & Sandys, the business’s failure negatively impacted their friendship.
In July 2025, Schwartz shared an update on his relationship with Sandoval. “We just had this business that we put all of our life savings into, and it just kind of was going up in flames,” he explained. “Tried everything to put the fires out, but that put a lot of strain on our friendship.” That makes sense.
Tom Sandoval says Schwartz “wears the pants in a lot of ways”
During BravoCon, Schwartz and Lala Kent were announced as full-time cast members for Season 3 of The Valley. While Schwartz was embracing his new reality role as a chance to step out of Sandoval’s sidecar, his former bestie didn’t agree with Schwartz’s comment.
“Schwartz has always had his own identity,” Sandoval told US Weekly. “It’s really funny that he says that because, you know, behind closed doors, Schwartz definitely wears the pants in a lot of ways,” The singer continued, “I’m just more of the outspoken [one], but behind closed doors, Schwartz [has] a very strong-set mindset.” Really? That doesn’t seem to track.
“I mean, like with the restaurant and dealing with something that’s not doing well, [we were] failing [and facing] constant pressure and negativity. It sucks, and it definitely wears on your friendship,” Sandoval stated. “But overall, since we’ve moved past that, it’s definitely been better.”
Sandoval continued, “I’m glad that he’s on there and doing his own thing and being himself. He’s got his podcast, he’s got his own voice.” He added, “It’s great. I love it.”
While Sandoval was considering possibly joining The Valley, he may have made the right decision. When he asked the BravoCon audience for their thoughts about him joining the show, they gave the notion a hard “no.”
