Dancing With The Stars

Dancing with the Stars descended on Las Vegas this weekend!

Friday night marked the kickoff of the new Dancing with the Stars Live in Las Vegas show at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino.  The show will run for 12 weeks and will feature current and past pro dancers, former celebrity contestants and anyone else loosely related to the show and in need of a paycheck/publicity.

The photos below include: Kym Johnson, Tony Dovolani, Joey Fatone, Anna Trebunskaya, Carson Kressley, Tia Carrere, Lacey Schwimmer, and more!  Above: Cheryl Burke.

The Dancing with the Stars elimination night kicked off with another performance from KISS.

We’re given the update that Melissa Gilbert was whisked off to the hospital right after she left the dance floor last night. She’s doing well, resting up at home. She should be able to continue on with the rest of the competition if she gets proper rest.

After some recaps and an encore performance of Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd’s “Purple Haze”, a few of the safe couples are announced.

All of the ‘pros’ share that this season has been one of the toughest they’ve experienced because the ‘stars’ are all so good and the competition is fierce.

A few more safe couples are announced and we watch two more performances and FINALLY we get to the elimination! When it was all said and done (after a LONG dramatic pause), we bid farewell to Sherri Shepherd and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy.

Sherri was in tears and devastated, but took it much better than I thought she would. “I just want to say thank you for letting me live a dream that I’ve always had.” And she gave some words of wisdom, telling people to go and tackle the thing that scares them the most.

The Dancing with the Stars contestants got their rock ‘n roll on tonight.  It was a sea of black satin, big hair, and lame fauxhawks.  And no season of DWTS is ever complete without at least a half a dozen injuries or so.  Oh, and pretend “groupies” gyrating on the judges table.

Brooke Burke really got into the spirit of the night with some huge ’80′s hair that would make Dee Snider jealous.

Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus tried their hardest to dance to a difficult song, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, which the judges gave them credit for attempting, but they weren’t impressed.  Carrie Ann didn’t think it came together well and their posture wasn’t strong enough.  I gave them an extra point for Gladys’ costume!

Cheryl Burke and William Levy received stern words about their goofs, which included a fumble or two that threw off their rhythm and caused them to go on too long. Carrie Ann told them they needed to stay focused.

Chelsea Hightower and Roshon Fegan gave it their all and the judges were thrilled.  Carrie Ann gushed that she thinks Roshon is the best dancer among this season’s men.

Maria Menounos and Derek Hough danced an incredible tango to “School’s Out”, despite Maria’s foot injury.  Maria was a trooper and never let us see how much pain she is in, but all Len could muster for her was a “just pretty good”.  Carrie Ann was blown away by their chemistry.  Derek did his best to get a few sympathy votes by carrying Maria upstairs for their score reveal.

Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff drew criticism for the form/posture, dancing to ‘Paint it Black’.

The top scorers of the evening, Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd kicked up the heat in a paso doble to Jimi Hendrix’s “Purple Haze”.  The judges were blown away, with Carrie Ann Inaba dubbing it “psychedelic, bizarre, sexy, raunchy, hot. One of the most memorable moments.”

Melissa Gilbert and Maksim Chmerkovskiy disappeared after their performance because Melissa needed to be seen for an injury and it couldn’t wait.  From updates shared this morning, Melissa was suffering from whiplash and a concussion.

I don’t know about you, but this season is just a little ho-hum for me.  It needs a shake up.  Get some Housewives on there.  An entire contestant lineup of just Housewives.

The ambassador of abstinence is back and heading to a television near you…maybe.  Bristol Palin has landed another reality show and will get a chance to play house with her boyfriend.

Right after her stint on ‘Dancing with the Stars‘, the daughter of Sarah Palin taped a reality show with brothers Kyle Massey and Chris Massey, but after a little bit of press, we never heard another word about it.  Not that we’re complaining.  Honest.

It seems Bristol moved back to Alaska and bought a house across the lake from mama Grizzly and she’s been working to fix it up. Naturally, Bristol smelled a reality show pitch in there and is now dragging her boyfriend of a year, pipeline worker Gino Paoletti, along for the ride.  The two are going to film the adventure of moving in together when the house is finished this summer and give their relationship a “trial marriage“.

“Bristol and Gino are crazy about each other. They’ve talked about getting married, but they think it’s a good idea to live together before making it official.”

In my part of the world, that’s just called moving in with your boyfriend.  But I guess it sounds more respectable to call it a “trial marriage”?!

The new show is called ‘Bristol Palin: Life’s a Tripp”.

No word on whether Levi Johnston will be making any appearances on the new show.  He’s in the news this week for knocking up another Alaskan woman, though.  And making claims that the Palins are blocking him from seeing Tripp.  Mama Palin lashed back at him, calling him a liar and saying that they haven’t heard a word from him since the summer of 2010.  So, it makes sense why all of them are back in the news airing their dirty laundry…Bristol has a show to promote.

It sounds like Sarah Vs. Levi would be a lot more fun to watch.  But that’s just me.

Dancing with the Stars is officially down to the Top 10.  After all the tears and heartwarming sympathy vote stories on Monday night’s episode, I’m sure it was hard for some to decide who to vote for, but they managed…

Jack Wagner and his partner Anna Trebunskaya were sent on their way, despite a touching story about Jack reuniting with the daughter he never knew he had. The sweet story didn’t cover up the fact that their performance wasn’t one of the best of the night.  Jack put in a good effort, but he seemed a little stiff and awkward and viewers agreed.

Jack took the news the best he could.  “I just had a great time. It was fun to test myself and thanks to the judges.  Good luck to everybody else, all the contestants.”  “It’s been such a great ride. I love Anna. I’m so grateful for her.”

Next week is rock week and we hope the couples pull out all the stops and hopefully some of those low scoring duos will bring their A-game!

TELL US – What’d you think of the elimination? Were you shocked?  Happy? Who’d you vote for?

It seems Urkel has a bit of a temper.  According to reports, Jaleel White blew up at his dance partner, Kym Johnson, during Friday’s rehearsal, and things got so heated that other Dancing with the Stars contestants and producers needed to step in.

Jaleel became agitated after he stepped on Kym’s foot and she cried out “ouch”.  He got in her face and told her to “stop acting like a baby” and at one point called her an “idiot”.  Kym stepped outside while Donald Driver tried to calm Jaleel down.  Jaleel claims that producers paired him with “a stupid partner”.  When Mark Ballas approached Jaleel, he reportedly spat at him “You remind me of that annoying sitcom neighbor who gets into everyone’s business!”

The source says that producers had to break things up and attempt to cool everyone down.  Rumor has it that Jaleel has been refusing to step foot back in the rehearsal studio, and that he’s demanding his own space somewhere else.

Jaleel fired back this morning, saying that the reports have been “greatly exaggerated”.  “We go to work every day, and there is an alley full of tabloid reporters. It’s not fair to us and that’s life, and I hope people can see through it. There’s no drama in my life.”

Also denying the extent of the blowup is Mark Ballas, who tells TMZ that it’s all crap. “We’re in L.A. man … everything’s fabricated.”

It was a night of tears and tens on Dancing with the Stars.  The theme of the night was ‘memorable years’ and there were plenty of tear-jerkering stories, paired with some beautiful dancing.

First up was Anna Trebunskaya and Jack WagnerBruno gushed and said they got the party started.  All of the judges were impressed, landing them a respectable 24 points.

Maria Menounos and Derek Hough did the rumba to Material Girl. The judges gushed over it, calling it a little bit of bedroom and ballroom. Maria danced through that broken rib to earn a 27.

Gladys Knight says 1957 was special for her because it was her first tour and she was just 13.  Gladys and Tristan danced their way through the fox trot and earned a 24.  The judges gave her high praise for her flow and her grace.

Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower danced a Michael Jackson tribute to the samba.  Carrie Ann didn’t think it was their best dance since their transitions were a little clumsy. They wound up with a 25 for their efforts.

Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff impress with their sexy dance. Bruno shouts out “GAVIN YOU’VE GOT HIPS!” Carrie Ann declares that she has “Gavin fever”, but only enough to give them a 24.

Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas earned the highest points of the night with their beautiful tribute to Katherine’s father who passed away from lung cancer.  They waltzed their way to a 29.  Carrie Anna was totally choked up and called it “magic”.

Sherri Shepherd and Val Chmerkovskiy dance a theatrical rumba together and earn a 24.  Bruno says “mama can move” and was impressed with the way she held it together.

Next up was Melissa Gilbert, who broke her back in 2010 and wanted to celebrate with a peppy jive.  Melissa and Maks Chmerkovskiy also earned a 24.

Rumba’ing their way to a 25, Jaleel White and Kym Johnson got some criticism for not being fluid enough.

William Levy chose 1995 as his most memorable year because he arrived in the United States after leaving Cuba.  William and partner Cheryl Burke steamed up the dance floor with a sexy salsa.  Len tells him he “conquered the salsa”.

Last up was Donald Driver, who dedicated his dance with Peta Murgatroyd to his friend who died of cancer in 2010.  Their rumba earned a 26.

Who do you think will be sent on their way tonight? Here are the final tallies:

Katherine Jenkins & Mark Ballas – 29
Jaleel White & Kym Johnson – 25
William Levy & Cheryl Burke – 28
Gladys Knight & Tristan MacManus – 24
Jack Wagner & Anna Trebunskaya – 24
Sherri Shepherd & Val Chmerkovskiy – 24
Roshon Fegan & Chelsie Hightower – 25
Maria Menounos & Derek Hough – 27
Donald Driver & Peta Murgatroyd – 26
Melissa Gilbert & Maks Chmerkovskiy – 24
Gavin DeGraw & Karina Smirnoff – 24

TELL US – WHAT’D YOU THINK OF THE DANCES? THE COSTUMES? THE SCORES? THE SAD STORIES?

We all know the Kardashians love them some Dancing With The Stars! Several of the famegrubbing family members have shimmied into their sequins to shake their bootys. Well, the latest Kardashian associate to get considered for the show is none other than poor whipped Bruce Jenner!

Oh, Bruce – imagine doing something besides playing with helicopters without Kris Jenner breathing down your neck whilst she prostitutes your daughters for a measly 10%! I swear she even forced Bruce to get that “facelift”!

Yes, unfortunately Bruce is the latest name to be thrown out as a possible contender for the show. I personally think he would be fun on the show – at least as far as Kardashians go!

Apparently, despite the looming deadline to announce the new cast, the producers haven’t filled the fourteen celebrity spots yet! According to HollywoodLife, DWTS producers think Bruce would be a great option. Or they realize Bruce has nothing else going on and would be available last minute!

Bruce hasn’t decided if he’ll sign on yet. He’s likely waiting for Kris to give the ok!

In other casting news, The Huffington Post is reporting that NY Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz was bragging of turning down a DWTS offer while backstage at the Grammy’s!

And singer Ryan Tedder was overheard telling people that Chariot singer Gavin McGraw will be joining the cast this season! Gavin or his rep hasn’t confirmed or denied an interest in the show, but I guess we’ll find out on February 28th when the official lineup is announced.

Other possible castmates are Giuliana Rancic, JWoww, Tim Tebow, Paula Dean, and Herman Cain! Oh, and Melissa Gorga – in her dreams!

Dancing With The Stars returns Monday, March 19 at 8 PM EST on ABC.

DO YOU WANT TO SEE BRUCE ON DWTS? OR ARE YOU TIRED OF THE KARDASHIANS INVADING THAT SHOW?
