After this week’s Blood, Sweat, and Heels, it remains to be seen whether Geneva Thomas will be attending former “bestie” Demetria Lucas‘ upcoming wedding. Because she defended her friend, Chantelle Fraser’s behavior at Demetria’s recent book launch (Chantelle was being loud, making a bit of a scene, mouthing off to Demetria’s fiance’ Greg), Demetria has since threatened to dis-invite Geneva from her Big Day. In her latest Bravo blog, Geneva discusses her feelings on the issue, and her reaction to being the last one to learn of cast-mate Daisy Lewellyn’s battle with cancer.
Geneva says she was blindsided by Greg taking such a hard line on the book launch fiasco. She says, “I had no clue Greg would hold on to the issue the way he did. It was all very confusing. I can’t police grown women. That’s not my ministry. The best I could do to fix the issue was to offer my sincerest apology, and I did that to both Greg and Demetria.” Geneva argues that she’s dealt with her own disturbances at work events (i.e., last season’s drunken antics from Melyssa Ford and Mica Hughes at her work event), but she would never go so far as to kick her friends out of the venue. The book launch drama “was nothing like the disturbance I dealt with at my event,” says Geneva, “and I didn’t sick security on Mica and Melyssa.”
This week, Blood, Sweat, and Heels is taking us back into the fray – and the aftermath – of Demetria Lucas’ book launch, which Chantelle Fraser was nearly ejected from last episode. We pick up at Demetria’s house where she and Greg are recovering from the event. Melyssa Ford stops by and talk turns to Chantelle’s behavior. Demetria has heard Greg’s version of events, which includes Geneva Thomas sticking up for Chantelle. Melyssa adds fuel to the fire by saying that Geneva is immature and should have stuck up for Demetria at her own event because she’s Demetria’s friend first, not Chantelle’s. Demetria has a head cold and very few sh*ts to give about the entire debacle, claiming Geneva already called her to apologize and Chantelle should be in charge of Chantelle’s behavior. End of story. “Geneva is my girl. I can’t go for her – I can’t,” says Demetria.
Chantelle may not be in charge of her behavior, but she is apparently in charge of her entertainment events company. Geneva pops by Chantelle’s work to relive the previous night’s events and to tell her she already apologized to Demetria, but Chantelle stands firm that she did nothing wrong and still maintains that Greg “was on his period.” Amy, the matchmaker, calls Chantelle to entice her out on a blind date with a real estate developer. Chantelle agrees to the date while Geneva sits there looking like Inspector Gadget. What is this getup all about, Geneva!?
Last night’s Blood, Sweat, and Heelsgave us some rebooted drama from last season, except it wasn’t Mica’s intoxicated butt getting kicked out of an event this time!
Daisy Lewellyn comes to visit Mica Hughes, who’s on the phone with a “friend” Kevin, who may turn into more than a friend pretty soon. Daisy is looking fly and fabulous in her Cleopatra wig and Mica is back to the long hair, thank heavens. Hoping that short wig is burned and its ashes are scattered in the Hudson. Fix it Jesus! Mica and Daisy lament the fact that Daisy can’t drink during her cancer treatments, but the bigger issue is that Daisy’s got a CAT scan coming up which will reveal whether the chemo/radiation combo has killed all of the cancer cells or not. The dynamic duo then do an Ethel-n-Maude routine that is both hilarious and heartwarming and shows just how good these two women are for each other. #truefriendsonrealitytv!
On a park bench across town, Demetria Lucas meets Melyssa Fordto chat about Demetria’s busy life doing her book launch and Melyssa’s busy life…eating salad. Demetria says she’s inviting all of the ladies to her book launch, but she’s nervous about certain women (cough, cough – Chantelle Fraser) acting a fool on her big night. The conversation turns to Melyssa’s lackluster love life and Demetria suggests that Melyssa not bring a date to Demetria’s wedding so she can meet a Nigerian banker (who may well possibly be the only single man at the wedding of 50 people). Please tell me BS&H is not going down the #africanprince rabbit hole of Atlanta!
On last night’s Blood, Sweat, and Heels, we start at Mica Hughes’ apartment, where she’s on the phone with Daisy Lewellynto tell her about her peace-treaty lunch later that day with Demetria Lucas in Brooklyn. Daisy knows that Mica’s sensitive about Demetria’s accusations about Mica being an alcoholic, but Mica hopes for the best. She’s going into the meeting with an open heart, but knows that Demetria can be a hard nut to crack. AtArzo Anwar’s showroom, Melyssa Ford visits to look through the matchy-matchy oversized fashions on display. The two of them have bonded over their failed relationships in the past, so Arzo asks her to visit her family in CA with her to tell Arzo’s family about her current squeeze, YestirDay. Arzo’s parents would prefer her to marry an Afghani, a Muslim, or at least probably someone not named YestirDay. Melyssa thinks it’s time to tell Arzo’s parents the truth no matter what their reaction may be.
Chantelle Fraservisits Daisy, who’s in bed feeling the effects of radiation and chemo pills. Chantelle and Arzo are the only girls who have reached out to Daisy since the entire group found out about her cancer. Demetria and Geneva Thomas have been on radio silence since the “big reveal” last week, apparently. Well, maybe Geneva can’t catch a cab to visit Daisy. But what’s Demetria’s excuse? Chantelle interviews that she’s afraid for Daisy and she wants to be a support system for her. The two discuss last episode’s brunch, during which Arzo and Chantelle got into it over the “Afghan Hound” comment. Chantelle’s ready to get over it. In the mean time, she does Daisy a solid by helping her clean up her closet!
Across town, Mica Hughes is sitting on the floor of her closet surrounded by $49.99 wigs and complaining to Daisy on the phone that her hair is beat. If that short-short wig Mica wore last episode is in this pile of bargain weaves, she needs to feed it to her chinchilla, pronto. Mica & Daisy discuss Arzo Anwar’supcoming runway presentation (for one of the designers she carries), and Daisy’s excited to attend a positive event now that her chemo is done (YAY!). Next step: radiation. Daisy fills Mica in on Geneva’s arrest, and Mica almost slips on a wig hearing this news. Mica says she can totally picture Geneva going HAM on the cabbie, given how Geneva’s told Mica off in the past. Then she lets her chinchilla lick her cell phone. Finally, swinging on her stripper pole then promptly falling off of it, Mica ponders the fabulousness that is Mica.
Yes! It’s the night of the pop-up runway show and some police…uh, interference. Last night on Blood, Sweat, and Heels, it’s Fashion Week in NYC and the ladies are prepping their various businesses in hopes of forwarding their names in the industry. GenevaThomas, apparently now a fashion journalist who studied fashion at NYU, scored a 1-on-1 interview with designer Byron Lars, which she’s proud of. In another proud moment later tonight, Geneva will be showing us how to pair police handcuffs with a low patent leather pump (spoiler alert!). Daisy Lewellen is werking the mike off-off stage somewhere, where the Real Housewives of Atlanta have been cordoned off: well, at least Cynthia Bailey and Kenya Moore, who describe who they’re wearing, then peace out. Daisy’s running hard again, covering 6-7 fashion shows a day (and modeling her new Beyonce-inspired wigs!).
Mica Hughes is checking out bar/restaurant venues for her “pop up runway show.” Bottom line: it’s a fashion show with a flash mob feel. What can go wrong, I ask you? I guess the restaurant they’re scoping out will soon host unsuspecting patrons whose happy hours are interrupted by models and Mica popping out of nowhere working a makeshift runway. Please let this happen to me at some point in my life!
Last night on Blood, Sweat, and Heels the ladies do what no Real Housewife has (possibly) ever done by episode 3 in a season: they make up with dignity and class. Daisy Lewellyngets disappointing news about her final cancer treatment though, while Melyssa Fordmakes plans to head back into the real estate world, and new girl Chantelle Frasersteps on some toes.
Melyssa is grateful that opening night of her play is over so she’s celebrating by getting pedicures with her mom & aunt. Her mom was touched by the part in the play where no one wanted to listen to her talk (back-in-the-day-like-10-years-ago) when she was a video vixen. Melyssa feels good about finally being able to open up to her mom. Having always been a daddy’s girl, she knows she’s held her mom at arm’s length for too long and wants to focus on being a better daughter now.
OK, folks! In full disclosure, I am writing this Blood, Sweat, and Heels recap after sweating and slogging around Disney World all day with my family, so I may be a little slow on the uptake. (Actually it’s been a blast and I have mad respect for all of the parents who’ve gone before me running the Mickey gauntlet.) I’ve got three full cups of coffee in my system now and am ready to roll – so, here we go!
We pick up with Melyssa Ford rehearsing for her soon-to-debut musical/comedy “For Vixens Who’ve Considered Homicide When the Video Was Too Much.” So, it’s catchy then! Melissa says she creates high pressure situations for herself so she can squeeze diamonds out. She’s looking to spoof the industry that’s defined her for so long – the music industry that made her, that is. She takes the stage to rehearse her lines and it seems as if she needs a BIT more work before opening day. Melyssa interviews that she wants to be more than a video vixen has been – she wants to be a professional, uh, professional. She can’t think of an exact title yet, so step off people!
