Days after TMZ reported a contract negotiation standoff betweenTeresa Giudice and the Bravo network, a new report by Popeater is now revealing the real issue and how much Teresa and her costars are earning.
According to Popeater, Teresa, who is arguably the least classy most popular Real Housewives of New Jersey star, is actually making less money than her co-stars!
There is however a reason for this. See, Caroline Manzo and Jacqueline Laurita are earning more than Teresa because Bravo also has to pay their adult children for appearing on the show. Teresa on the other hand doesn’t have any adult kids, and therefore doesn’t get paid for her kids being on the show, something Teresa feels is not fair.
Popeater reports that Bravo states they can only pay the women the exact same amount, which is $250,000 for the upcoming 3rd season, but Bravo gets around the issue by compensating the adult children involved with the show. The Manzo family is reportedly getting $310,000, with the Laurita family slated to earn $270,000 while the Giudices will continue to receive the base rate of $250,000.
“She brings in ratings and [really] invites viewers into her house, even the birthing room of her daughter,” Teresa a source tells Popeater. “That she gets less — that’s crazy!”
The source adds, “Teresa understands her children can’t get paid because of issues with child labor laws, but she just she just wants them to have a college fund.”
With the $250,000 base rate, the NJ Housewives will become the highest paid of the Bravo bunch. Not a surprise as their second season brought in the highest ratings ever in Bravo housewives’ history. The 250k is also a very high amount in comparison to the $150,000 a season the Real Housewives of Atlanta reportedly got for their 3rd season, which is currently airing.
TELL US – DOES TERESA HAVE A POINT? SHOULD SHE BE GETTING MORE MONEY?
Despite a report that came out weeks ago stating that Teresa Giudice was done with the Real Housewives of New Jersey because she felt she was treated unfairly by the show, a new TMZ report today is stating that Teresa wants to return to the show, but only if the money is right.
According to TMZ, Teresa is on the verge of getting the axed from the show due to her money demands holding up contract negotiations, and Bravo is reportedly losing patience.
Sources close to Teresa are however firing back, telling TMZ Teresa’s under the impression the other women in the cast are earning significantly more money than she is and she wants to double her salary from last season.
Teresa is reportedly willing to walk away from the show if Bravo doesn’t cough up enough cash. Though Bravo refused to comment on the contract negotiations, they did state that they are looking at possible replacements. TMZ adds that all the other ladies are expected to return, with the exception of Danielle Staub of course, who despite her claims that she left the show on her own accord, was fired by Bravo.
My take on this? This seems like a negotiation ploy by both Bravo and Teresa. As we have previously reported, Teresa’s sophomore cooking book is scheduled to be released at the same time the 3rd season of the show will be returning so despite the leaked information to the press, Teresa needs the show. And with news that Bravo has signed Teresa’s sister-in-lawMelissa Gorga, Bravo needs Teresa back on show as well.

Perhaps it’s a slow news day but RadarOnline is reporting today that Teresa’s brother in law, Pete Giudice, has also filed for bankruptcy.
According to Radar, Joe Giudice’s brother Pete and his wife filed Chapter 7 with the United States Bankruptcy Court in New Jersey on June 29, 2010. The couple listed their monthly income as $7,000 with assets totaling $1.3 million but liabilities of nearly $2 million. Guess this is chump change compared to the $11 million debt of Teresa and Joe.
Pete’s debts are defined as consumer debts with the number of creditors estimated to be between 50-99 with claims ranging from $160 to $46,000. Pete has also filed a notice to abandon his $1.3 million NJ home.
TELL US – DO YOU THINK BRAVO AND TERESA WILL RESOLVE THEIR NEGOTIATIONS DISPUTE? DO YOU WANT TERESA TO RETURN TO THE SHOW?
In a new interview with Wonderwall, Caroline discusses Teresa and Joe Giudice, whether or not she will be returning to the show next season, and touches on the news that Teresa’s sister-in-law Melissa Gorga will be joining the show. Excerpts from Caroline’s interview below -
WW: Are you looking forward to the new season of your show? CM: You know I don’t even know if I’m on the show to be honest. That’s up to the Bravo producers. At this very moment I don’t even know if I’m in the show. They haven’t told us much of anything.
WW: I hear Teresa’s sister-in-law will be on the show? Did you think she’d fit in? CM: I know that’s the word on the street, it’s in the rumor mill. I’m not sure though who’s going to be on, so I can’t talk about it. But yep she’s nice [Teresa's sister-in-law]; I’ve only met her in passing. You know just saying hi and bye. I haven’t seen her more than 20 minutes in my life. But she seems nice.
WW: How are Teresa and Joe doing after the arrest and bankruptcy? CM: They are good people, they are survivors and they’ll be fine.
WW: Would you welcome the idea of returning to “Real Housewives”? CM: I’d welcome it with open arms, but that’s up to the Bravo producers.
In other NJ news, disgruntled former Bravo employee Danielle Staub continues to bash Teresa Giudice in interviews. The latest is an interview with UsWeekly magazine, during which Danielle mentioned her desire to dress up as Teresa for Halloween.
“I was just going to take a waxing strip and put it on my forehead, with a little doll hair attached to it and call it Cornelius,” she told UsWeekly. “Oh, is that catty of me to say?”
And though Danielle is into “making fun of Teresa a little bit,” she may not go through with it. “Why kick her while she’s down?” she said referencing Teresa’s financial and legal troubles.
And finally, The Spin Crowd’sJonathan Cheban is now denying the newshe probably leaked out himself that he is dating 19-year-old Ashley Holmes. “We’re good friends. I’m friends with the family,” Jonathan tells PopEater. “She’s a cool girl.”
According to Popeater, Bravo executives are discussing the possibility of giving the Real Housewives of New Jersey break out star, albeit for all the wrong reasons, her own solo show.
“If they can give Bethenny her own show you can bet that they will give Teresa one,” a TV insider tells Popeater. “You can’t come up with a better script than Teresa’s life. She’s a mother and wife [of Joe] going through financial troubles and having to start all over again. Everyone has been hit hard by this economy and watching Teresa and her family struggle through problems will make for great TV.”
Popeater adds that Teresa has sold more magazines than Bethenny by appearing on the cover, plus her ‘Skinny Italitan’ cookbook is a NY Times bestseller.
However, a Bravo spokesperson failed to confirm or deny the news, simply telling Popeater, “Your Bravo insider has just as much chance of landing a spin-off show as Teresa.”
TELL US – SHOULD TERESA GET A SPIN-OFF SHOW? WOULD YOU WATCH?
Good news for the Giudices and bad news for those wishing to put in a bid on their personal items. PEOPLE magazine is reporting the bankruptcy public auction of Teresa Giudice, scheduled for Oct. 3, has now been canceled.
The lawyer for the Real Housewives of New Jersey star confirms the news to PEOPLE, stating that instead of a humiliating public auction, the Giudices will now be holding a private sale to maximize the amount of money they receive for their valuables.
Those valuables include a stainless steel gas range, a flat screen TV, a crest leather & fabric sofas, a faux marble chess set, bedroom sets, and a piano. You can see photos of the items here.
“When the sale is conducted, the Giudices would get $52,000, because they are allowed that as exemptions,” their lawyer, Jim Kridel, tells PEOPLE. “There would have been a shortfall. What if they got $30,000, but they owed $52,000 to the Giudices? It wouldn’t help, so we said why not have a private sale? It would be best for the state, the creditors, the trustees and the Giudices.”
Despite being able to get their public auction canceled, the Giudices are still facing legal troubles. As we reported weeks ago, a trustee for their bankruptcy case alleged in court documents that Teresa and her husband,Joe Giudice, hid assets, failed to report over $250,000 in earnings, and undervalued items listed as personal property exempt from the bankruptcy filing.
In a new interview with Parade, Teresa discusses her former cast-mate Danielle Staub, her future, and she also touches on what we reported a while back, which is that she has a college degree. Yes folks, Teresa is college educated as she tells Parade she thinks she is the only NJ housewife with a degree. And unlike her fellow cast-mate, Caroline Manzo, who gave Bravo a ‘Me or Danielle’ ultimatum, Teresa actually voices that she would have been okay with Danielle’s return to the show.
Excerpts from Teresa’s interview below -
Do you have any regrets about getting involved with The Real Housewives of New Jersey?
“Nothing could prepare you for being instantly famous. Being on the show was the best thing I ever did — and the worst thing. Yeah, the paparazzi and the fake stories about my family are aggravating, but we choose to concentrate on the blessings–the great things that came out of it, like my New York Times best-selling cookbook, Skinny Italian, meeting so many wonderful fans, things like that.”
All of your fans are very concerned about your, Joe’s and the girls’ well-being. Is your family really $11 million in debt?
“I really appreciate everyone’s concern. I get the sweetest, most uplifting letters from people. And yes, Joe and me and the girls are all happy and healthy. We’re in God’s hands. What more could I ask?
Do you think that you will have to sell your gorgeous house? Or will you have to get a job?
“I have a job! I have four jobs actually. My first and most important job is being a mommy. But I’m also an author, I run an online boutique, and I make appearances around the country. I think I’m the only New Jersey Housewife that actually went to college. I have a fashion degree and worked as a buyer for Calvin Klein and Macy’s before I had kids. I’ve always worked. I love to work. But my family comes first.”
You truly “sizzle” in the commercial for Sizzles Tanning Salon in Totowa, N.J. How did that come about?
“I just signed with ICM [International Creative Management, a leading talent agency], so yes, you’re going to be seeing a lot more of me! I’m also releasing my own fragrance, a make-up line — and a line of cookware.”
It’s official: Bravo announced that Danielle Staub will not be returning to The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
“If Danielle was on or off the show, it didn’t bother me. I can deal with her. And I’m certainly not afraid of her or anything. Was she fired? You’ll have to ask Bravo.”
In other news, despite Teresa’s claims that she and her sister-in-law/newest NJ housewife Melissa Gorga are not at war, their facebook and twitter postings tell a very different story.
As we have reported, the two ladies do not get along – at all, mostly due to what sources say is the constant mistreatment and non acceptance of Melissa by Teresa. But we’ll let you be the judge. Check out the following twitter postings made by both ladies last week. Please feel free to pay attention to the timelines -

Must say I love the balls on this chick named Melissa Gorga. I’m guessing Teresa badly wants to mend things with Melissa as not to appear as a phony and mean person to her fans on the new season of the NJ Housewives. Teresa’s popularity has taken a major hit with the news of her $11 mil bankruptcy filing and irresponsible spending. Having her true colors shown on the new season of the show will definitely not help matters.
So far, it seems Melissa isn’t willing to play along with the phoniness. Plus if Melissa is even telling half the truth about the awful way Teresa has treated her in the past, then I must say that Teresa is a pretty crappy being. And there’s a whole lot more interesting exchanges between these women. For example, just this week, Teresa posted that she was taking dance classes, after which Melissa called her a “copycat,” later posting that she had been taking dance classes for the past 4 months.
And again, I ask regarding the 3rd season of the Real Housewives of New Jersey, Danielle Staub who? The addition of Melissa to the show is absolutely genius. Also, as of the moment, it does not seem like Bravo wants Dina Manzo back. Can’t say I blame them considering Dina’s husband refuses to do the show, and Dina’s ex-husband has now reportedly banned their daughter from appearing on the show.
First, RadarOnline is reporting that Joe Giudice, husband of Teresa Giudice, has been released from jail after serving 8 days of his 10-day sentence for driving with a suspended license.
According to Radar, Joe was wearing a black and white jump suit as he walked out of the jail’s lobby around 6 a.m. this morning. His brother, Pete, and friend, John, were waiting to pick him up. The trio left in a jeep. Joe refused to answer any questions, simply telling reporters “get outta here.”
“Hey everyone..just so you know..as of right now..i will not be returning for season 3.. but my mother will..i hope we can all still chat :),” wrote Ashley. No reason was given for her leaving the show, but judging from the “as of right now” statement, we’ll take a gander and blame it all on contract/negotiation/money issues with Bravo.
The 3rd season of the NJ Housewives has yet to begin filming so perhaps Ashley might still return to the show.
Finally, RadarOnline is also reporting today that there is an additional new NJ housewife on the block. If you recall, they broke the story weeks ago that Teresa’s sister-in-law Melissa Gorga, whom she absolutely does not get along with despite her public denials, had joined the cast.
Well it seems things are about to get worse for Teresa. Sources tell Radar Bravo has asked Katherina Wakile to join the cast, and that Teresa is none too happy about this. Why? Well apparently Katherina is Teresa’s cousin!
“Teresa isn’t happy that her family is being asked to join the cast,” a source told Radar. “She feels as if her entire family is being approached to be a part of the show.”
The source adds that Teresa has yet to sign on for the 3rd season, but judging from the news that her second cookbook will be released in May, 2011, around the same time the 3rd season of the show is set to premiere, something tells us Teresa will be signing that dotted line any day now.
“Danielle is crazy about Lori, but doesn’t know she’s seeing another woman,” a source said. “Lori is a proud, openly gay woman, and the relationship with Danielle is just an amusing sidetrack for her. She’s really with Courtney.”
The source adds, “And if Danielle expects something serious and long-lasting with Lori, she’s going to end up being one heartbroken housewife.” A picture of Courtney Lynch is below courtesy NJ.com. She is the dancer on the left.
In other NJ news, TMZ is reporting this morning that Bravo has put the kibosh on a classy table flipping contest that was set to be hosted by the always classy Teresa Giudice.
The reason? Apparently Bravo thought it was a dumb PR move. The club owner of The Funkey Monkey in Delaware tells TMZ they will now be holding a Teresa look alike contest.
