Real Housewives of New York OG Bethenny Frankel has suffered several recent medical issues stemming from her severe fish allergy. Who can forget Bethenny mentioning her allergy as she joined the other RHONY ladies for lunch during that
hellish crazy trip to Colombia? Thanks again for planning that, Tinsley Mortimer!
Of course, Bethenny was joking that the ladies were “wanting to poison” her. Perhaps that “joke” was only directed at frenemy Carole Radziwell. But now, Bethenny’s allergy is no laughing matter. I wonder if her health struggles will be part of RHONY Season 11, which is set to debut on March 6?
People reported that the mogul went into anaphylactic shock. According to sources, she “almost died,” after unknowingly consuming fish on December 16, 2018. Bethenny credited Paul Bernon, her new boyfriend, with saving her life.
Bethenny later tweeted, “911 & EPI saved me. I’ll never not carry an #epipen.” The Bravo star spent two days in the ICU recovering. Unfortunately, Bethenny is still dealing with vision and memory issues following that scary incident.
According to an article from Page Six, Bethenny went on The Dr. Oz Show to explain exactly what happened that day. Bethenny explained, “So, I’m in Boston, at my boyfriend’s house and…ah… he gave me some miso soup, and I remember…I remember it was in, like, a to-go cup. And I eat miso soup a lot, and it tasted really good.” The Real Housewives of New York star added that even after her hands became itchy, she declined her boyfriend’s offer of some Benadryl because she didn’t want to be drowsy all day.

“I felt a little tickle in my throat, something seemed a little off –not crazy at all — less than before in my life. By the time he came back, I was unconscious. I was unconscious and he managed to get a Benadryl down my throat while calling 911,” Bethenny stated. The Housewife also told Dr. Oz that some traditional miso soups do contain fish broth.
“I don’t like to be alone anymore,” Bethenny confessed. “I don’t want to be at restaurants alone, and I’m not that type of person. It’s very scary. It changes your whole entire life.” Perhaps Bethenny can increase the amount of time that she spends with co-star Sonja Morgan. That could be entertaining!
She also shared that she is asking airlines to remove fish from their in-flight menus. According to another article from Page Six, Bethenny boarded a plane on January 3, only to learn that bass was being served. The reality star had called the airline several times to report her allergy. She asked them not to serve it since some fish allergens can be airborne. Instead, the pilot opted to turn the plane around instead, much to Bethenny’s embarrassment. That sounds awkward! Here’s hoping that Bethenny is feeling better soon.
