No one’s personal life is off limits when it comes to Real Housewives of New York.  Significant others can become a storyline whether they are on camera or not.  Like that unfortunate business of Tinsley Mortimer and Scott Kluth.  The car he sent over from Chicago spent more time onscreen than its owner.  Yet Scott’s name was on everybody’s lips for quite a while.

Dive back far enough into the show’s history and you might stumble upon speculations that Luann de Lesseps had an open marriage with the Count.  Bethenny’s Frankel’s relationships may have had gray areas and some castmates were quick to pass judgment.

These days Luann is throwing shade at Bethenny’s new boyfriend Paul Bernon and questioning when the two starting seeing each other.  Presumably, she means before or after the passing of Dennis Shields.  Paul has yet to appear onscreen, but his presence is felt every time Bethenny takes his call.  And everybody has an opinion on the matter, including Tinsley’s delightful mother Dale Mercer.

During an appearance on the Real Housewives of New York After Show, these ladies shared their opinions about Bethenny and PaulTinsley is the only castmate that has met him so far.  She and Dale have only good things to report.

Tinsley said, “I met Paul in Palm Beach recently but also I met him before, actually, at her house.  I really like him.  I mean he’s great.  He’s adorable and he’s cool and he’s fun.  And his parents are hilarious.  I’m very happy for her.”

Sonja Morgan has supported this relationship from the start, if only as a means to comfort Bethenny in her grief over losing Dennis. Sonja explained, “I don’t think Bethenny necessarily moved on from Dennis but having Paul to hold her hand and to be there for her. Because she knew him previously. I was worried about Bethenny going into her cave and becoming very depressed and this is a much better thing she has.”

Dorinda Medley empathizes with Bethenny’s loss and, therefore, chooses not to judge her choices.  She opined, “I don’t think there’s any rules or guidelines for grief.  And I don’t think anyone should comment on it.  I think everybody does the best they can and if that means, having a friend, dating, whatever it takes to move through it.  The person has died.  You’re not doing them any justice or injustice anymore.  They’re dead.  So what you have to do is what’s best for yourself.”

Sonja interjected her agreement, “Oh the typical mourning period that people demand and watch for.”

“People are very judgmental about that period and it really surprised me when I went through it,” Dorinda said.  That’s true with this group.  Can’t a girl request a room without triggering an established cabaret star?

Luann is underwhelmed by the whole affair, “I don’t know Bethenny’s new boyfriend. I’ve never heard about him. I’m beginning to think that this relationship that she has been going on with this guy is been going on longer than we all think.”
