Season 4 of Real Housewives of Potomac did not disappoint. There was plenty of drama, and Candiace Dillard was involved in a lot of it. Candiace finally married Chris Bassett on August 11, 2018. Their wedding was gorgeous!
Candiace spent much of the season tracking RHOP co-star Ashley Darbyâs alcohol consumption. Ashley told her fellow Potomac Housewives that she was cutting out alcohol because she and her husband, Michael Darby, were trying to conceive. I really enjoy drunk Ashley, and she did make a lot of appearances during the season. Candiace was on serious womb watch, and she found it fake that Ashley was drinking while talking about conceiving again after her miscarriage.
When Candiace had a dinner party at her motherâs place her home with Chris, the Potomac ladies attended. Ashley made the comment that they were in Candiaceâs motherâs house. Candiace became enraged and brandished a butter knife at Ashley before throwing her out of the house-twice. SeriouslyâBravo should remove all silverware and glassware from these dinner parties. Safety first, people!
Candiace also battled with her mother Dorothy Dillard all season. They even ended up in therapy together to try and work through their issues. And there seems to be a lot to work through. Dorothy was furious when Candiace invited her half-brother to her wedding. Candiace also alleged that her mother smacked her in the face with her purse when they were guests at a wedding.

In fact, Dorothy attended the RHOP reunion with the same purse to demonstrate how Candiaceâs face hit against her purse. Does anyone believe that Candiaceâs face was the aggressor? Yikes!
During an episode of the Real Housewives of Potomac After Show, Candiace and co-star Karen Huger discussed the current state of Candiaceâs mortgage. In a video clip, Candiace shared, âI am happy to report that Chris and I now own the entire mortgage on the home.â Since Dorothy is no longer financially helping her daughter, one would assume that this mother-daughter dynamic would improve. Not so fast.

âI think everyone had this idea that taking over the mortgage was going to be the solution to a lot of our problems. I knew different, and I would say that, but people think they know the parameters of the relationship and they put their two cents in,â Candiace shared. âItâs still rocky.â
So, what is causing the friction in Candiace and Dorothyâs relationship? âWe are paying the full mortgage; she still refers and references things that sheâs done or that sheâs doingâ well sheâs not doing anything anymore financiallyâ but things that she had done, from my pageant career and spending the hundreds of thousands of dollars on my pageant career, which she did, to helping me buy the home to my nails and my hair and the fashions and putting me through dance classes and cheer and everything that sheâs done for me that has contributed to who I am today and Iâm really happy that sheâs done that, but itâs just exhausting,â Candiace revealed. I must agree with Candiace on that one.
