Vicki Gunvalson Slammed For Saying She Wants Small Businesses To Reopen During Pandemic

Real Housewives of Orange County fans were shocked, and some were pleased, when “OG” Vicki Gunvalson was demoted for Season 14. After having the mother of all meltdowns during the RHOC reunion, Vicki and her bestie Tamra Judge were offered part-time contracts for the upcoming season. In January, the former Tres Amigas decided to quit.

So, what has Vicki been up to? Vicki  is filming a new reality show with Tamra. She also has her own podcast, Whoop It Up with Vicki. And Vicki never weighs in on Housewives drama. Just ask former friend Shannon Beador. Vicki unfollowed Shannon on Instagram because Shannon made amends with Vicki’s nemesis, Kelly Dodd.

On the personal side, Vicki and fiancé Steve Lodge had to postpone their wedding. The nuptials were set for April but had to be changed due to the coronavirus outbreak. The fact that Vicki was personally impacted by the pandemic makes her next move mind-boggling.

Vicki took to Twitter on April 20 to voice her wish for some small businesses to reopen with a tweet to the California governor. (Some of the grammar is a bit rough in these posts.) Vicki tweeted, “@GavinNewsom Let’s get America who is healthy back to work. We need hairdressers, nail techs, small business’s and restaurants to start reopening May 1st. Please?”

Really, Vicki? Is getting your hair done worth the risk to your health, and the health of others? Some people (gasp) even give themselves manicures. Just saying.

The response to Vicki’s comments was swift and brutal. “You really ARE, unaware of REAL LIFE. We have a small busn. NO WAY would I put their lives, in danger. The lives and their families’ lives that helped build our company. STOP being selfish,” one follower wrote.

Another fan said, “YOU may consider these essential businesses; not me. People are dying Vicki they don’t need a manicure.”

Vicki wants to “WHOOP IT UP” while people are dying. Nice,” someone else tweeted.

Vicki hit back at those comments. “Nope, reread this again. I said nothing about whooping it up. I said we need to get back to work. Been in quarantine for 2 months as I’m sure you have,” the RHOC alum posted.

Vicki also tweeted in response to another fan saying that it was too soon to reopen. “Never? You think we should stay closed forever?” Vicki responded.

A few people did support Vicki’s views. One follower wrote, “It can be done as long as masks and disinfecting wipes are available. People can still work and do it safely and responsibly. I don’t understand why the panic button needs to be on push. #americaneedstowork.”

If anyone thought that Vicki was going to fade into the background after leaving RHOC, this should be your wake-up call. Vicki, and her opinions, aren’t going anywhere.
