Stop sleeping on The Real Housewives of Potomac. They have everything you could possibly want in a reality show. Every episode is a perfect balance of humor, drama, and real moments. The largest focus of the season thus far appears to be on the budding feud between Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard Bassett. We know it ends in a massive physical altercation, but the spoilers don’t make it any less interesting.
Last week’s episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac saw major progress in the friendship of Candiace and Ashley Darby. They won’t be best friends anytime soon but being able to talk calmly is a great first step. Candiace is feuding with everyone this season it seems. A focus of this episode is supposed to be about her calling Gizelle Bryant a monster. Where is the lie in that label?
Gizelle tries hard to be the cool mom and fit in with her daughters. To work on the issue they have with her and Jamal Bryant getting back together, she does a dance class with one of them. She’s trying to make things right, but these girls don’t seem like they’re ever going to budge. Word on the street is the cracks in Gizelle’s family might be too big to ever repair.
There’s a major level of annoyance following this reconciliation. They’ve seen their mother be deeply hurt in the past, and they don’t want that to ever happen again. It’s actually kind of sweet. Every parent should want their child to look out for them in that way. Gizelle needs to at least take their feelings into account before proceeding any further.
The return of Karen Huger’s messy friend Matt has me screaming. He’s so random and so shady. LOVE IT. He doesn’t make any sense, but Karen is so over the top, it somehow works.

Karen and Ray Huger are throwing a housewarming party now that they’re back in Potomac. She’s hoping the party will serve as a reminder of the durability they have in their marriage. What a bizarre last-ditch effort. What about counseling or going on date nights? What’s the need to have a public audience and put on some sham of a spectacle?
To invite everyone to the party, Karen films a singing telegram. It’s completely bonkers, which is very on-brand for Karen. I bet everyone’s reactions to that video will be priceless. Karen is the Grand Dame of Extra.
Robyn Dixon and Wendy Osefo link up with their kids to get to know one another better. Bringing margaritas to the playdate is a crystal ball depiction of what I’d look like as a parent. Go play kids, Daddy’s gotta drink.
Their conversation turns to Ashley’s disastrous Sip And See. Robyn is against Candiace’s behavior, but Wendy comes to her defense. She thinks once it reaches three or more people coming at you, it may come across as a gang up. Wendy also spills the tea that Candiace called Gizelle a monster. Does she not know she’s telling all of this to the other green-eyed bandit?

Candiace and Ashley have their long-awaited one on one sit down. It’s nice to see Candiace owning up to at least some of the vulgar comments she made about Ashley last season. Ashley brings along baby Dean which is an ideal way to neutralize any possible attack that could come from Candiace. I see you, girl.
This is such a giant leap forward for these two. Having this conversation one on one is the best way to possibly resolve their longstanding tension. Ashley wants Candiace to own the horrific comments she made while she was in labor. However, Candiace thinks Ashley needs to own up for some of her own shady remarks. At the end of the day, Candiace ultimately owns up to some of it, and she might want to genuinely move forward.
Candiace claims she was never made privy to the issue between Monique and Charrisse Jordan. Even Ashley seems surprised because she says the two were fine at her baby shower. Clearly, a lot has changed. I personally think maybe Candiace did know, but as of now, there’s no way to prove it.
The meetup is interrupted by the wildest singing telegram invitation from Karen. Gizelle looked horrified the entire time watching it. She’s so messy and kind of rotten to the core, but her facial expressions give me a reason to live. Karen truly believes she’s some sort of Potomac royal.

While on a call with Robyn, Gizelle learns that Candiace called her a monster. Here we go. Gizelle is prime and ready to give Candiace full monster at the housewarming party. The green-eyed monster is about to wreak havoc all over Karen’s rented residence!
Monique’s life looks so exhausting. There are so many kids running everywhere. Where did she ever find the time to potty train that bird? I need THAT kind of energy in my life. There’s almost no break in her schedule.
Monique wants Chris Samuels to put forth some more effort in their marriage. He keeps trying to make it about money, but that’s really not the point. She wants him to court her and insert some romance back into the equation. Her concerns seemed to fall on deaf ears, unfortunately.
On a picnic, Chris Bassett asks Candiace for an update on her stance about having children. She’s terrified of the idea. It’s not as if she had a shining motherly example to look at from her own mother. That is one of the most toxic relationships in Housewives. Dealing with that on a regular basis is enough to make someone pause at the idea of starting their own family.
Chris gives his usual great advice and urges Candiace to have her conversations with Monique and Gizelle privately. Having it without a group audience is always the best route to take. Having the peanut gallery involved when you’re trying to resolve an issue is never going to end with peace.
So many Matt cameos tonight. His involvement in her press conference SENDS ME every single time. Those are the type of moments that keep me locked in as a fan of Real Housewives of Potomac.
Gizelle’s friend Kal tries to talk some sense into her about getting back with Jamal. He’s actually understanding the POV of her children that she’s sweeping under the rug. It’s hard to take this conversation seriously though when he’s combing her wig the entire time.
Karen is looking FLAWLESS as guests arrive to her party. She has made quite the transformation since the start o the show. I’m not complaining though. She and Gizelle are so needed on this show at the same time. The way they shade each other but still have a bond is the GLUE of this show.

Ashley is baby-free! She almost always has Dean, but Michael Darby is on Daddy duty for the evening. Am I wrong or does Ashley’s look at the party look just like her confessional look? I wonder if they were taped on the same day. She looks good, but it’s piquing my interest.
There’s no trust left between Monique and Candiace. Every interaction between them has mounds of underlying tension. When their altercation finally happens, it’s going to send chills up my spine. The build to this has been incredible.
ROBYN BROUGHT PIZZA TO KAREN’S PARTY!!! OH MY GOD!!! WHAT A SHADY CALLBACK TO THE GREAT FALLS INCOGNITO MOMENT. Robyn earning her champagne flute with that one! Normally, I’d be begging for her to leave the show, but that was a good one. Even a broke clock is right twice a day though.
Candiace and Gizelle have their much-needed talk, and Candiace actually admits calling her a monster. Gizelle finds the entire thing nasty and rude, but Candiace denies malicious intent. Forgetting about Candiace for a second, but Gizelle is the last person that should talk here. She’s always making digs and nasty comments about everyone, so this is just a taste of her own medicine.
Following this, Gizelle wants nothing more than a surface-level friendship with Candiace. Besides Robyn, all of Gizelle’s friendships in this group are superficial. You reap what you sew.
With her children out of the nest, things have really changed between Karen and Ray. He wants to go to Florida, but there’s no chance she gives up the exposure of being on this show. She’s making major moves as a Potomac wife, so there’s no way she’s going to give that up. Karen is having a new sense of purpose in her life.
KAREN COMES OUT IN THE MOST PEPTO BISMOL BUBBLEGUM OUTFIT EVER TO DO THE MOST AWKWARD DANCE. You are not Beyonce, and you never will be. Despite the cringe factor, there’s something low key iconic about all of it.
