Candiace Dillard Bassett took the spotlight this past episode of Real Housewives of Potomac. Drama was expected between host Wendy Osefo, Robyn Dixon, and Gizelle Bryant, but that fell a bit short. The stage for sent for a major blowout between Candiace and newbie Mia Thornton. That did not disappoint and also got us a whole discussion on tossed salad.
But who was expecting the salad fight to lead into a main course of dysfunction? So much for GVO. Ashley Darby started a conversation during dinner with Candiace’s husband Chris Bassett regarding Candiace’s fight with Mia. Well, someone needs to point out the parallels in her behavior with Monique Samuels and her new nemesis Mia.
Candiace’s anger escalated to a point where Chris was trying to physically restrain her and remove her from the restaurant. We’ve seen this before. And Ashley found common ground with Robyn and Gizelle by the end of it all when Gizelle expressed her concern that Candiace learned nothing from the Season 5 altercation with Monique.
It was impossible to avoid the energy from this fight. The whole group had to react, and the most empathy went to husbanger of the year, Chris, for all that he has to put up with. But also some questions as to how he handled the situation.
Mia and Karen Huger appeared on the Real Housewives of Potomac After Show to discuss what went down at the dinner table. A fan account shared one of the clips.

“Let me tell you what I remember,” Mia answered, “I remember her husbanger getting up from the table telling her to shut the f*ck up.” Karen recalled Chris physically restraining his wife, “I don’t understand it, but they’ll be fine. I hope. There is hope.”
Mia, who got the brunt of Candiace’s wrath, then interjected, “No. I don’t know if I agree with that.” Karen stuck to her guns, “I can hold out hope Mia, I can hold out hope.”
For all she puts up with with Gordon Thornton, Mia is surprisingly adamant on respect between spouses. She said, “I don’t know. I’m sorry but no manager, husbanger, husband ever wouldn’t dare be able to say shut the f up to me.”
Flashback to a clip from the beginning of the couples trip, and Mia is being spoken to by a drunk Gordon in exactly the way she claimed she would never tolerate. “I don’t get many chances to tell you to shut the f*k up,” Gordon tells Mia.
Well, maybe there were some repercussions for Gordon off-camera. Some things us RHOP fans really don’t need to know about.
