Everything You Need To Know about Amazon Reality Show The GOAT, Starring Kristen Doute and Jill Zarin

Just when I think the world has been given enough reality TV shows, a network decides to one-up the game. This is the case with Amazon’s newest offering. From the brainiac producers of The Bachelor, The Office, and FBoy Island, Amazon is getting ready to premiere a brand new reality TV show aptly entitled The GOAT. The new series will feature 14 former and current reality TV stars who will be asked to compete in a series of social, mental, and physical challenges. The stars will be vying for the titles of “greatest of all time,” and the competition is steep. Daniel Tosh will be hosting the series, and they will have to reign all the prominent personalities in.

The series reminds me of MTV’s The Challenge and VH1’s House of Villians. The GOAT is just following the trend of combining multiple cast members from various shows. Viewers will recognize players from The Bachelor franchise, Big Brother, Love Is Blind, RuPaul’s Drag Race, and even Holiday Baking Championship. With such success with The Traitors, Amazon is clearly hoping to strike gold with its latest creation.

She’s back…

The cast is stacked, if I do say so myself. Amazon brought some heavy hitters back, including Vandeprump Rules star Kristen Doute, the Real Housewives of New York’s Jill Zarin, and Shahs of Sunset alum Reza Farahan. TLC also has a horse in the game with Paola Mayfield from 90 Day Fiance. Rounding out the rest of the list are Tayshia Adams, Joe Amabile, CJ Franco, Wendell Holland, Teck Holmes, Alyssa Edwards, Da’Vonne Rogers, Joey Sasso, Jason Smith, and Lauren Speed-Hamilton.

Jill, who recently had a not-so-stellar showing on Below Deck, posted a photo on her Instagram expressing her excitement. The mother of one wrote, “SURPRISE! I’m back! I have my Diet Coke bod! So….Which reality star is the Greatest of All Time? Obviously me! Just kidding!!!”

What to expect

The entire crew will have to up their political game to avoid being voted out. If they are asked to leave, they will lose their chance at winning a $200,000 cash prize. The cast is a culmination of the last 25 years of TV, and they will be expected to live together in the manor. Over a series of 20 challenges, the group will have to earn one another’s trust by also throwing a few of their teammates under the bus to thrive.

Now, I will say I watch A LOT of reality TV, and I recognize less than half of these people. So, I am not sure if I consider this a cast full of GOATS, but I’m pretty sure it will be fun to watch. Personally, I question whether the casting could have been done better. The GOAT will premiere on May 9. It looks like there will be 8-10 new episodes, which will premiere each week on Thursdays through June 27. The GOAT will air on Amazon Freevee and the Amazon Prime Video app.

Fans react

Nobody, especially reality TV stars, likes being told they are not the best. But The GOAT is looking forward to showing fans how some of their favorite stars react under pressure. Many of the participants will be from semi-scripted shows who have never had to compete. Between eating bugs, dance challenges, and puzzles, these stars have their work cut out for them. After watching the preview, I am sort of looking forward to seeing Kristen and Jill have to scoop up bugs.

It seems I am not alone in my excitement, with other fans taking to Reddit to share their thoughts. The opinions were mixed, with one writing, “Omg, is that Kristen Doute? If so I am totally watching this.” Another simply added, “Yeah I’m not subscribing.” Another excited fan revealed they would “watch anything with Reza’s messy ass.” So, the consensus seems to be positive for the newest reality TV show. I’ll be a fan of anything that has Jill, Reza, and Kristen on it.

Amazon has made it clear that they set out to answer the age-old question: Who is the Greatest Reality Star of All Time? It looks like we will have to tune in to find out.
