Yesterday, the forever iconic Days of Our Lives and Melrose Place heartthrob, Patrick Muldoon, passed away. His death was unexpected and sudden, leaving many of his Hollywood friends and fans shocked. But this great sense of sadness is also being felt over on Bravo. All roads really do lead back to this network, as Patrick formerly dated two Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alums, Lisa Rinna and Denise Richards.
Following their splits, Patrick remained friends with both Lisa and Denise. He even appeared on RHOBH Season 9, and later, Denise Richards & Her Wild Things. Overall, Patrick was one of the rare, good eggs in Hollywood. Well, other than the time he played a college student named Jeff Hunter, briefly breaking up Zack Morris and Kelly Kapowski on Saved by the Bell.
But that was the writer’s fault. So I digress. Nevertheless, here’s everything we know about Patrick’s sudden passing, alongside his legendary Bravo connections.
Patrick Muldoon died after having a heart attack
Yesterday morning, according to TMZ, Patrick died. Then, this morning, his sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, spoke with this very same outlet, helping to shine a light on Patrick’s passing. As she explained, Patrick went to take a shower after drinking his usual cup of coffee with his long-standing girlfriend, Miriam Rothbart, in their Beverly Hills home. However, Patrick took a longer than usual time to reappear, so Miriam went to check on him.
She found Patrick unconscious on their bathroom floor, Shanna explained. Miriam called for help, and the paramedics rushed over, doing their best to revive Patrick, Shanna added. But unfortunately, there was nothing that anyone could do. Patrick, aged 57, was gone.
Unlike Patrick, Miriam lives a private life. But on his Instagram account, Patrick often shared reels and images that highlighted their relationship, including one that he posted just last week. In this reel, we see Miriam, Shana, and several of Patrick’s other family members seated at a long dining room table, enjoying what Patrick labeled as a “Family Table Jam!!!” In this reel, Patrick, wearing a pair of black shades, is standing, playing the guitar and singing, ever the entertainer.
Underneath this post, friends and fans alike are now sending Patrick’s family their love and support.
The actor appeared on RHOBH Season 9, and was confronted by Dorit Kemsley
As an actor, Patrick starred in every medium, including film, scripted, and unscripted television. Regarding the unscripted side, in 2019, Patrick appeared on RHOBH Season 9 Episode 7. During this episode, Denise and Aaron Phypers, her currently estranged ex, tied the knot. Since Patrick was Denise’s “best friend,” he got an invite to their ceremony.
During the reception, Denise mentioned to Lisa that Patrick was in attendance. “Patrick Muldoon! Come here,” Lisa yelled. When Patrick wandered over, Lisa added, “Muldoon, I want you to meet some of my friends.”
Being cheeky, producers introduced Patrick with an inserted “Denise and Lisa Rinna’s friend,” note. Immediately after, we found out why. While shaking Patrick’s hand, Dorit Kemsley said, “I have to tell you, I met Denise with Lisa Rinna, and the first story I heard was that the two of them were shagging you at the same time and did not know.”
Then, the cameras cut to a flashback. Here, we saw Dorit listening as Lisa explained, “He played my brother on Days. I had a little fling with him at the same time Denise was having a little fling with him.” Sitting between these women, Denise validated Lisa’s claim.
So, back at the reception, Lisa Vanderpump asked Patrick, “Who was better?” Poor Patrick. All he could say was, “I mean, it was so long ago.”
Patrick also appeared on Bravo’s Denise Richards & Her Wild Things
The next time fans saw Patrick on Bravo was during the first and only season of Denise Richards & Her Wild Things. As Denise explained, their romance began in 1997, when they co-starred together in the film Starship Troopers. Originally, Denise confessed, she and Patrick were only “friends with benefits.” But they eventually started dating, and their relationship lasted “for almost five years.”
After they parted ways, Denise and Patrick remained tight. So tight, in fact, that Denise agreed to star alongside Patrick in his romantic music video for his new song, “Gray Again,” which aired during Episode 6 of her spin-off series. In her confessional, Denise explained, “It’s roughly about us because I’m the girl that ‘got away’ really.” Her daughter, Sami Sheen, agreed.
“He’s very flirty with her, I’m not gonna lie,” Sami admitted. “I don’t want to get him in trouble,” she added, since Patrick and Mirimian were already together by this point. “But I feel like he might still have feelings for my mom. Just an idea.”
But Patrick shut down her suggestion several beats later while appearing as a guest on the misSPELLING podcast. “We dated on and off in the ’90s, but since then, it’s been just friendship, Sami… we are friends,” Patrick clarified.
