Welcome to The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 19 Episode 14 recap. Last time, Emily and her hubby, Shane Simpson, received a diagnosis for their son, Luke. This news put their marriage in a better place. And Tamra’s Spring Fling Party erupted into a messy argument between Tamra, Emily, and Heather. Here’s what happened in RHOC Season 19 Episode 14: “Hoedown Throwdown.”
What happened in Real Housewives of Orange County Season 19 Episode 14?
Heather hosted a fundraiser for the Trevor Project, while Emily organized a western-themed event to raise funds for the Innocence Center. However, fireworks went off when Gretchen and her fiancé, Slade Smiley, confronted Tamra at the party. And Tamra sat down with Katie to get some answers about Slade and Gretchen.
Gretchen and Emily have a showdown
Emily and Gretchen met at a western hat store to chat about Emily’s upcoming event. She is hosting a fundraiser for the Innocence Center. More specifically, it is for an exoneree who spent 18 years in prison. She wants to raise enough money for him to go to school for mechanics. Then, Emily spilled all the tea to Gretchen about Tamra’s Spring Fling party. The duo also bonded over how often Tamra walks out and quits whenever she is called out.
Of course, Emily revealed that Tamra wanted to meet with Katie to discuss Gretchen. However, Gretchen said that Emily was a “sh*t-stirrer,” which Emily denied. “You brought something up about her that is defamatory,” Emily told Gretchen. Apparently, Gretchen forgot that Emily is an attorney. “Emily, you need to take some accountability,” Gretchen said, accusing her of pushing to listen to Tamra’s song and of calling Slade. “I didn’t call him,” Emily insisted before leaving.
Meanwhile, Tamra met up with Gina. Tamra’s daughter, Sophia Barney, is at college, and her bestie, Teddi Mellencamp, is battling cancer. Gina remembered that infamous moment in 2019 when Tamra was hiding in a bush. She was also really struggling at that time. So, Gina is going to support her RHOC co-star.
Gina admitted that Gretchen “was wildly out of bounds” by spreading the affair rumor about Tamra. However, she noted that Tamra is “reactive to it.” Then Heather arrived. Tamra stated that Heather said that she didn’t trust her and was afraid of her.
When Heather tried to explain why she made those comments, Tamra snapped at her for being “condescending.” Fancy Pants apologized again for hurting Tamra, but added that she wasn’t “brushing over” Gretchen’s behavior.
Katie gives Tamra some details about Slade in RHOC
It’s Katie! Remember her? Tamra sat down with Katie to bond over their trauma with the RHOC friend group. Both ladies were emotional during this meeting and discussed being frozen out. “I felt bad about what I did. I did not mean to hurt you,” Katie told Tamra. For Tamra, the fact that Katie apologized meant something. Plus, she doesn’t believe that she is a “sociopath liar.”
Then Tamra asked about Slade calling Katie’s husband, Matt Ginella. “Gretchen lied and said you drugged her,” Katie explained. “And Slade said, ‘Tell Katie to stick to the story. Tell her not to waiver – it’s the nail in her coffin.’” Katie added, “His exact words were, ‘She has to stick to the story cause it’s a legal issue.’” According to Katie, she thought she would “get in trouble” if she told the truth.
Then Katie shared that Matt was angry and was going to try and sit down and talk with Slade “man to man.” Tamra observed, “Slade’s not a man. Man to douchebag.” Yikes! “Everything they’re saying that I’m doing to them, they’re doing to me,” Tamra claimed.
Meanwhile, Heather hosted an event at a cookie shop to benefit the Trevor Project. This organization has a hotline for young people who are in crisis. Emily, Gina, and Tamra came out to support, as did Heather’s husband, Dr. Terry Dubrow, and their kids Nicky and Kat. Plus, Heather and Terry made a $50,000 donation. Kudos to Heather for always being an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community.
A blast from the past at Emily’s fundraiser
RHOC alum Elizabeth Vargas attended the Innocence Center fundraiser. Tamra, Elizabeth, and Emily chatted about the shocking statistic of wrongfully accused people in prison. According to Emily, approximately 100,000 people in the U.S. are wrongfully serving time in prison. I love seeing the Orange County ladies being charitable and raising awareness.
However, Gina’s boyfriend, Travis Mullen, looked so hot dressed in his cowboy gear that other women were gathering around him. “I mean, I seriously need to lock up my cowboy before these b*tches get their spurs into him,” Gina said in her confessional.
Of course, Emily sat down with Tamra one day earlier to try and explain her feelings. In a flashback, Emily told Tamra, “I feel like we’ve had an amazing friendship, but I think, ‘Am I next at some point?’” Then Emily explained that she worried that Tamra could spread unfounded rumors about her if she got mad. “Note taken,” Tamra replied. Emily felt it went well, then Tamra admitted that she had met with Katie. And Emily was not happy.
So, Jenn asked Tamra if she got what she was looking for from Katie. “Yeah. I feel validated,” Tamra said. However, she told Jenn that she didn’t feel comfortable sharing any details since Jenn was friends with Gretchen.
When Gretchen and Slade arrived, Tamra and her hubby, Eddie Judge, decided to avoid them like the proverbial plague. Meanwhile, Emily and Gretchen were on good terms after putting aside their differences. So, that cleared the way for Emily to drop the bomb on Gretchen that Tamra and Katie had chatted.
Gretchen and Slade create chaos on Real Housewives of Orange County
When Emily announced that Gina and her boyfriend, Travis, donated $5,000, Terry took the mic, totally stealing Gina’s moment. Terry and Heather matched the $5,000. Welp, I expected a bigger donation.
Meanwhile, Tamra was telling Elizabeth that she “won’t be around Slade” because “he’s so gross.” She added that Gretchen was “fake as f*ck.”
Finally, Gretchen and Slade decided to find out what Tamra and Katie discussed. When the couple greeted Tamra, she responded, “No.” And she hastily walked away. “Look at her run!” Gretchen said with a laugh. As Eddie and Tamra headed towards the exit, Gretchen followed, screaming, “Run, b*tch! Run!” Classy!
“I don’t think she’s in any state right now to talk,” Emily told Gretchers. “I don’t f*cking care what state she’s in,” Gretchen responded. “Don’t yell at me,” Emily warned repeatedly.
Then, Emily went outside to speak with Tamra and Eddie. “That was aggressive. She shouldn’t have done that,” Emily said of Gretchen. “I don’t understand why Slade gets so involved in this.” Eddie replied, “He’s a little b*tch.” Okay, then!
Once back inside, Emily confronted Gretchen for behaving so “aggressively.” Gretchen screamed, “Don’t talk about Slade!” The two ladies continued to argue until Gretchen stormed off.
Later, a producer asked Gretchen about Slade’s fondness for getting “involved” in the drama. “Slade gets involved because the women start talking about Slade,” Gretchen said in her confessional. “But somehow, Slade and I are the bad guys in this situation.”
