Last night’s Southern Charm was swirling with the confirmation of the “did they or didn’t they” hook-up rumors surrounding Kathryn Dennis and Whitney Sudler-Smith. Shep Rose’s love life was once again thwarted by ill-thought Instagram posts, and we got to peek inside Craig Conover’s fledgling pillow company. It doesn’t get much better than that!
The episode begins with Kathryn unable to summon Austen Kroll on any of her smart devices. Across town, Cameran Eubanks is getting some much needed relaxation at the nail salon before being interrupted by Recent College Grad who comes in like a bull in a china shop. She’s got a cooler of kombucha and she can’t stop talking about her last name and her royal status in Charleston society. However, her politician father’s affair caused a serious blacklist for her family. She wasn’t even able to be a debutante! Cameran’s husband has known this girl’s family for decades (he gave her swimming lessons when she was four), and Cam likens her to a little sister. She gives RCG some sisterly advice–she needs tone it down and mind her manners. Cameran reminds RCG that her behavior at Patricia Altschul’s dinner party was over-the-top and obnoxious.
Season 6 of Southern Charm got off to a dramatic start with last week’s premiere episode. It all went down at Patricia Altschul’s dinner party. It was the first time that Kathryn Dennis was a welcomed guest in her home. She was both nervous and excited about the invite. Unfortunately, the new girl ended up giving Kathryn a lot of shit. This is a pattern on Southern Charm at this point.
Eliza Limehouse walked in as
an oddly a very proud friend of Thomas Ravenel and Ashley Jacobs. Who in her right mind would ever brag about that? Claiming those two is not a good way to make friends, girl. However, she wasn’t the only one to stir up the drama. Austen Kroll told Chelsea Meissner that Kathryn and Whitney Sudler-Smith hooked up over the summer. Whitney awkwardly deflected, but, by no means, is the storyline over. It is still a hot topic of conversation during tonight’s episode.
As a Bravo super-fan, the annual Summer House and Vanderpump Rules crossover episode is like my Super Bowl and it’s finally here! Before we see Kyle Cooke tell Stassi Schroeder she looks like Steve Jobs again (one can only hope), Kyle and Amanda Batula are tearfully discussing their future as a couple. They cry, they comfort each other and they go to sleep. I feel like we’ve seen this pattern a lot wit them. Meanwhile, the rest of the house comes back drunk except for Lindsay Hubbard who sleeps out again. Good for her. At the moment, relationships in the Summer House are all over the place!
Lindsay stubbles home, Jordan Verroi likes that girl (Erica) from the bar last week and Paige DeSorbo is talking to someone named Justin. Since Carl Radke brought a random as his date to a wedding, Paige feels free to move ahead with other guys. You go girl. Also, Paige has a full on pre-date routine, including a face mask. I continue to relate to Paige on a spiritual level. Jordan confines in Kyle about his erectile disfunction and Kyle is questioning his story. He thinks Jordan is either gay or a virgin. I never want to label someone but Jordan’s E.D is definitely stemming from a different issue.
Wasn’t it great to have Southern Charm back last week? It is one of my favorite shows and the seasons never seem to last long enough. It will certainly be a different show without Thomas Ravenel, but it looks like we will be hearing a lot about him throughout the season. For better or worse-probably worse! My favorite part of the premiere show was definitely the dinner party at Patricia Altschul’s house, which was as wonderfully strange as any of her gatherings.
Austen Kroll was one of Patricia’s dinner invitees and for the most part was a low-key party guest. Low-key would not be the words to describe an embarrassing video that surfaced last summer of Austen and his new girlfriend Madison LeCroy, however. In the video clip, Madison appeared to catch Austen in a threesome while stopping by his house early in the morning. Understandably, an argument ensued in the video, which was apparently taped by one of Austen’s “houseguests.” And now Austen is telling his side of the story.
He’s got money, he’s in magazines….the tabloids! Last night, Southern Charm made it’s much anticipated return with one missing piece, one Mr. Thomas Ravenel, who is sitting out this round due to several alleged sexual assault accusations. We do get our OG Charmers–Cameran Eubanks, Kathryn Dennis, Shep Rose, and Craig Conover. To say I cannot wait for this season to unfold would be an understatement!
The format remains the same…we follow the Charmers through their morning routines. The only difference is this group of noon sleepers are all actually early-rising adults. One by one, they recap their thoughts on the allegations against T-Rav and his subsequent arrest. Kathryn talks to Danni Baird and Craig. Shep admits to Austen Kroll that he’s yet to check in on the mother of two. Chelsea Meissner and Naomie Olindo (added to the credits this season, congrats!) joke about whether what’s her name will stay with Thomas if he goes to jail. Cameran is wisely pleading the fifth. She doesn’t want to risk a lawsuit from the Litigious Lothario.
Southern Charm is back for Season 6 tonight. Thomas Ravenel is not on the show. This also means that his on-again-off-again girlfriend Ashley Jacobs will not be making regular appearances. Although she does pop up at some point.
Nevertheless, the cast does have Thomas on their minds and his name in their mouths. Even though he’s no longer a cast member, Thomas is still a conversation topic. So much for suing Bravo to prevent that.
Craig Conover of Southern Charm is often the target of teasing and harsh judgements by his co-stars. Shep Rose, Cameran Eubanks, Whitney Sudler-Smith and other cast members love to give Craig a hard time over almost everything, including his stylish clothing, fondness for pot-stirring and continuing inability to decide on a career.
Maybe the part of Craig’s life that takes the most hits, however, is his love of sewing. Craig has not been shy about his enjoyment of the creative process of sewing and his fellow Charmers often don’t seem to understand it. Especially regarding his lack of follow through with taking his hobby to the next level and turning it into a business, which Craig has claimed he has wanted to do. Now, Craig is proving his detractors wrong as he has taken some real steps to make his artistic passion a part of his livelihood.
They’re baaaaaacck…Head’s up, Southern Charm fans! The crew from Charleston has returned for Season 6. We will see new faces, old faces, and faces you had hoped you would never see again. Returning to your television screens will be newish mom, Cameran Eubanks. Shep Rose is still hanging around, because what else does he do? Captain Beer himself, Austen Kroll, has a new girlfriend and is hopefully making money this year. Then there’s Craig Conover. Our Craigy passed the bar (not the one that serves alcohol, no one on this show passes a bar). He is presently fulfilling his current life’s dream of being a sewing master. I do not hate on this. I love a man who has actual domestic skills. Also returning is Kathryn Dennis. Kathryn has stayed out of trouble and has been keeping busy. She even has a new man in her life, but you can only go up after the father of her children.
Gone from the fold is
convicted felon, Thomas Ravenel. Thomas basically unraveled (see what I did there) and got himself a one way ticket off the show. Thanks to a sexual assault charge and an extremely psychotic interesting girlfriend. These days, he spends a lot of time in court. Speaking of the psychotic girlfriend, whatever happened to Ashley Jacobs? She was a real Snickers bar with extra nuts. Ashley took being Thomas’ girlfriend VERY serious and essentially turned herself into the show’s resident pariah. She basically begged Thomas to marry her on a regular basis. She had no concern that he financially funded her escort lifestyle way of living. Ashley also backed herself into a passive-aggressive corner with the rest of the cast. Now, I ain’t sayin’ she a gold digger – no wait, I am saying she’s a gold digger. If she were a smart woman, she would have packed her bags and returned to her family in California. Like I said, IF she were a smart woman…
