Exclusive Interview: Below Deck Mediterranean Charter Guest Ashley Brinton Dishes On The Show

When Ashley Brinton and her family arrived in the French Riviera to film her music video, the Below Deck Mediterranean crew and viewers thought they knew how the story would play out. There have been plenty of “spoiled” rich people on these yachts. The expected lack of awareness coupled with rudeness makes for good TV.

However, that was not the case with Ashley. Sure, she has a leg up on most teens looking to break into the music industry, but she had such a great attitude about everything, and, yes, believe it or not, pristine manners as well. She was so vocal about how grateful she was for every single thing the crew did. They didn’t even mind being in the background of the video or helping with production. Confused deckhand Colin Macy-O’Toole even thought he was a “fluffer” on set, which was so not the accurate description. In an exclusive interview with Reality Tea, Ashley dished on her time with the Below Deck Mediterranean crew, including the behind-the-scenes drama in the kitchen.

Ashley shared, “The opportunity to be the first person to shoot a music video on Sirocco was beyond a dream come true. The crew went above and beyond to fulfill my cray inspiration for my music video.” This is especially true since she is a fan of the show. Ashley said, “I definitely watched Below Deck before and was a very big fan. I never even thought I would be one day filming my music video on board. I just always was a super fan.”

She said that the whole crew was “super helpful,” but had some particular praise for the deck team. Ashley told us, “Colin and Joao [Franco] were super awesome in every aspect. From the trampoline to holding reflectors.” With a laugh, she added, “Jack [Stirrup], of course, is super sweet but was not as motivated.” She added, “Still love him though. How can you not?” If you were his boss in a professional setting, perhaps.

Ashley’s charter was in the middle of the chef drama. Chef Mila Kolomeitseva got fired after producing sad nachos and a baking soda-flavored cake. While Captain Sandy Yawn looked for a replacement, Third Stew Anastasia Surmava filled in. At the end of the episode, Captain Sandy offered Anastasia the regular gig, but it was a major gamble going in.

However, Ashley and her family were not privy to any of that information. She revealed, “I found out when we watched the episode. I had no clue about the behind-the-scenes chef drama. And, actually, the food was amazing. I was shocked  when I watched the previous episode and saw what had happened.” At least she didn’t have to eat a pre-licked steak or some sad pancakes. In comparison, finding out that the Third Stew cooked was actually a good kind of shock.

Most of the time when charter guests leave the boat, the Below Deck crew is ecstatic to see them go. However, this charter actually went very well and Ashley is still in touch with some of the crew.

Aside from living it up as a fan of the show, Ashley also managed to get another music video under her belt. All in all, Ashley concluded, “It was such a crazy, but fun, time. It was the experience of a lifetime.”
