No one can deny that Season 11 of Real Housewives of New York has centered around Luann de Lesseps. She is still dealing with the aftershocks of her December 2017 arrest in Palm Beach, Florida. Luann was arrested for resisting arrest with violence, battery on an officer, and disorderly intoxication.
Luann violated her probation by drinking, and ultimately obtained a new plea deal in May. This deal comes with some extra restrictions. Apparently, having a busy cabaret schedule isn’t an excuse for blowing off probation. Luann landed in rehab for a second time.
Luann ticked off her co-stars all season by treating them like her cabaret fans instead of actual friends. The Countess’ ego knows no bounds, especially when it comes to her cabaret shows. Or her singing.
Newbie Barbara Kavovit has been a loyal friend to Luann, and we know this because she has gone to Luann’s cabaret extravaganza several times. Luann was furious because Barbara, apparently forgetting that she was wearing a microphone, stated that Luann can’t sing.

During the RHONY reunion, the rest of the Housewives took turns agreeing with Barbara. Thankfully, they all praised Luann’s natural ability to entertain an audience. Luann accused her co-stars of being jealous of her success and told them she was going to be hitting the Broadway stage.
Page Six is reporting that Luann might have been delusional been mistaken when she stated on the reunion that show that she would be appearing in Chicago. Luann told her co-stars, “I want to tell you all right now, that for someone who can’t sing, I just got cast in Chicago on Broadway.” Boom! Mic drop.

But her triumph was short-lived. Luann’s representatives told Page Six, “Due to scheduling conflicts, between her [Bravo show], her jewelry line and her successful cabaret tour [with ‘The Countess and Friends’] Luann will not be joining the cast of Chicago at this time.” Awkward!
Apparently, Luann has spent the last decade trying to secure a spot in the musical. Six weeks ago, she even told some of her friends that she had won the role of Mama Morton. A source reported that Luann had been in talks to appear, but the producers chose to go another way. A couple of weeks ago, a production spokesperson told Page Six, “Luann de Lesseps is not confirmed to join the cast of ‘Chicago’ at this time.” Ouch!

While Luann has been arrogant this season, I do feel bad for her. It was uncomfortable watching her try to prove to her fellow Housewives that she has singing chops. Of course, other Housewives have been featured in Chicago in the past. RHOA star Kandi Burruss played Mama Morton. Kandi’s co-star NeNe Leakes once played the same character. RHOBH’s Lisa Rinna also appeared in the musical. So, maybe we will see Luann on Broadway after all.
