Whitney Rose Real Housewives of salt lake city

Did y’all watch the premiere of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City? I don’t mean to get ahead of myself but is this a possible new favorite franchise? It had it all! The new cast was interesting and fresh. They all have different backgrounds and stories. Hell, they even kicked off the first episode with a fight over someone smelling like a hospital. Truly. What a gem.

One of the cast members that immediately stood out was Whitney Rose. Her deal is that her and her much older husband got kicked out of the Mormon Church for having an affair when they were both married. Juicy. I’m actually a little surprised Whitney was so forthcoming about the whole thing. But it turns out, she has a little help navigating her new life in front of the Bravo cameras.

Whitney recently opened up to Entertainment Tonight about Katie Maloney, of all people, being her rock through this whole housewives experience. As you probably already know, the Vanderpump Rules star is from Utah herself. So is Lala Kent (hence, Lauren from Utah) but we all know that Lala isn’t about to help anyone out but herself. Anyway.

Whitney admitted, “[She] has been kind of my rock through this. She responds to me right away every time I message her, anytime. There’s as many highs as there’s as many lows, and in those low moments Katie’s given me the best feeling of safety and advice.”

She also said that Katie gave her some solid advice. That advice is to look inward and brace yourself for the haters. Katie should know since she has plenty of them. Whitney continued, “You’re going to be so worried about the fact that the world knows you had an affair, or you got drunk and you threw a glass, whatever it is, but people are going to come after you for, like, the type of bread that you fed your kid.”

I’m not going to lie, I’m a little shook that Katie has been such a steadfast support for someone outside of her own little circle of friends. But Utah is a small world and I suppose they gotta help each other out. Does this mean I like Katie just a little more now? Well, no. But it’s nice to know she’s doing something other than folding laundry on her couch.

Either way, I’m really looking forward to seeing the next episode of RHOSLC. And seeing if Whitney takes Katie’s advice to heart.
