It’s truly been a pleasant surprise that this season of Real Housewives of Orange County is actually good. I assumed it would go from bad to watchable after Kelly Dodd and Braunwyn Windham-Burke were finally kicked off the show. But the addition of Heather Dubrow and a few newbies has totally changed the show’s dynamic for the better.
Even RHOC stars like Emily Simpson and Gina Kirschenheiter, both of whom I couldn’t have cared less about prior to Season 16, are actually fun to watch these days. It’s a pleasant surprise. I assumed they would be getting pink-slipped as well, and bringing Shannon Beador with them. Now, Bravo, do the same with Real Housewives of New York. It needs a total makeover.
Emily, in particular, doesn’t elicit any strong feelings from me, positive or negative. She seems to rub bitter RHOC alums the wrong way, but I could take her or leave her. I’ve always loved that she’s different from the blonde Orange County mold. And called out Boringwyn for her phony behavior. She has a body that actually looks like most women I know.

Emily has curves and embraces them, even though she’s been attacked for her looks in the past. We, as Bravo viewers, should collectively channel this negative energy into clowning on Shane Simpson for having the worst personality, instead of coming at Emily for her looks. Come on, guys, we’re better than that. This man only passed the bar because they made it EASIER — the jokes write themselves. Body shaming is so uncool *Luann de Lesseps voice*.
Emily decided to kick off 2022 with a clap back at haters (including some of her past and present co-stars) who make horrible comments about her body. She posted a photo of her in workout clothes on the beach, looking like she’s living her best life The caption read, “Them: You should go on a diet; Me: I’m heading into 2022 feeling strong, confident, fit, happy, and healthy. Don’t listen to the noise. Do you. Be you. And do it unapologetically.” We love a body posi moment around here, so props to Emily. Hopefully, pot stirrers like Tamra Judge and Nicole James take notes because there’s rarely any reason to talk about someone’s body.
