Real Housewives Alum Dr. Tiffany Moon Is Trying Stand Up Comedy

`

Am I the only one who was disappointed to hear that the Real Housewives of Dallas was not renewed for a sixth season? Anyone? I mean, we should have seen the writing on the wall. Brandi Redmond basically announced her own exit among rumors of family strife. D’Andra Simmons initially intimated that both she and Dr. Tiffany Moon would be back. However, Tiffany cleared up the rumors by announcing her departure.

It’s a shame too, as season six was shaping up to be interesting. Cary Deuber hinted at a return. Which I would have been really happy about. She made the Brandi/Stephanie Hollman duo, slightly more palatable. Slightly. Not to mention a chance for more styling a la Mark Deuber.

Then there was the fallout between Brandi‘s bad behaviors and Tiffany‘s attempt to create a teachable moment. Plus, we need more uncomfortable dinners at Tiffany’s. See what I did there?

While Stephanie might be happy about the show ending, I’m still crossing my fingers that Andy Cohen was right. And that RHOD will be reinventing itself al la Real Housewives of Miami and showing up on Peacock any day now.

Whatever happens with the show, it appears that Tiffany isn’t looking back. Not only that, but the anesthesiologist extraordinaire has a backup plan. According to People, Dr. Tiffany is exploring the world of stand-up comedy. As you do.

I liked Tiffany from the start. And not just because she, like me, is a mom of identical twins. Although that’s a lot of it. But I found her dry sense of humor and self-deprecating nature endearing.  And it looks like I’m not the only one.

According to Tiffany, “People were like, ‘Oh, you’re funny. You should try to do stand-up. And [comedian] Jiaoying [Summers] is responsible for all of this because she’s a professional. We were shooting a Netflix special and she was like, ‘Open for me [and] do a 10-minute set. I think you’re funny.'” Now that’s convenient.

While Tiffany was initially unsure if it was something she could do, she ultimately decided to give it a try, admitting that, “I guess what I’m saying is that people see something in me and then they give me the opportunity to try it. For that, I’m grateful.”

Never one to shy away from a challenge, Tiffany wrote her set on the airplane that took her to Los Angeles for her performance. Whaat? Girl that takes some guts.

Tiffany joked that it was harder than it seemed. “This seven, eight-minute set that I did in totality from writing jokes, practicing with my husband, practicing with my assistant, calling [my publicist] JT, probably took 50 hours in totality.”

I for one am interested to see how this works out. While Tiffany isn’t planning a new full-time career in comedy, this could be a fun side gig for her. “I never wanted to be a multi-season Housewife [and] I don’t think that I’m going to be the next Margaret Cho or Alli Wong and have a Netflix special.” Way to temper expectation.
