Teresa Giudice

Teresa Giudice, Lindsay Hubbard, Chrishell Stause, And More Are Nominated For The 2022 MTV Movie And TV Awards

The Emmys and the Oscars are overrated. We all know that the most coveted award in entertainment comes from the MTV Movie and TV Awards, right? Maybe not. But, it’s one of the few institutions that celebrates reality TV for all of its glory, so it’s worth getting excited. MTV recently announced this year’s nominees, and on June 5th, they will air the awards ceremony live from Los Angeles. There are dozens and dozens of categories, but for the unscripted awards, some of our favorite Braveloebrities, drag queens, and soap opera stars turned real estate agents are nominated. Voting is open now, so here’s who to look out for.

First, let’s talk about Kyle Richards. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills OG isn’t just nominated for her work on reality TV. She’s also nominated for her acting skills. Thanks to her role in Halloween Kills, she’s up for “Most Frightened Performance.” If you’ve seen the movie, you know she deserves the win based on her bangs alone. However, she has some pretty stiff competition. She’s going up against Mia Goth, who played a twisted dual role in the slasher film X. Also nominated in this category are Jenna Ortega for Scream, Millicent Simmonds for A Quiet Place Part II, and Sadie Sink for Fear Street: Part Two 1978. If Kyle doesn’t win it this year, there’s always next year when she reprises her Halloween role for the third time.

For “Best Competition Series,” some classic shows are nominated. American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, RuPaul’s Drag Race, The Challenge: Spies, Lies & Allies, and The Masked Singer. This category could be anybody’s game.

Then, there’s the category for “Best New Unscripted Series.” The nominees include Hart to Heart (Did anyone actually watch this?), Teen Mom: Family Reunion, Queen of the Universe, The D’Amelio Show, and The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip. It seems like RHUGT is a shoo-in for the win there. The theme song alone deserves an award.

Everyone’s favorite category at the MTV Movie & TV Awards is “Best Fight” because what would reality TV be without its spats? This year, nominated for “Best Fight” are Bosco and Lady Camden from RuPaul’s Drag Race, which honestly pales in comparison to some of these other fights. Additional nominees include Selling Sunset’s Christine Quinn vs. Chrishell Stause, a tale as old as time at this point. The rest of the nominated fights all involved things being thrown. Candiace Dillard Bassett and Mia Thornton are nominated for their epic salad toss fight on The Real Housewives of Potomac; Danielle Olivera, Ciara Miller, and Lindsay Hubbard for their spat on Summer House; and finally, Margaret Josephs and Teresa Giudice for their Nashville showdown on The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Curiously missing from the “Best Fight” category is Jen Shah vs. The United States.

A new category added to this year’s awards is “Best Reality Return,” celebrating reality stars that left the game and then came back, some with more success than others. The rightful nominees include Tami Roman, for her appearance on The Real World Homecoming: Los AngelesParis Hilton, who returned with two unscripted shows, Cooking with Paris and Paris In Love; and Kylie Sonique Love, who came in and snatched the RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars crown after nearly a decade away from reality TV. Also, Sher from Ex on The Beach is nominated for her return to TV, and although no one watched past the first episode, Bethenny Frankel is nominated for The Big Shot with Bethenny.

For “Best Reality Romance,” MTV pulled couples from all across the reality TV spectrum. Teresa Giudice and Luis “Louie” Ruelas were totally snubbed in this category, but you can’t win them all. Instead, the nominees are Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt from Bachelor in Paradise, Loren and Alexei Brovarnik from Loren & Alexei: After the 90 Days, Nany Gonzalez and Kaycee Clark from The Challenge: Spies, Lies & Allies, Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix from Vanderpump Rules, and Yandy Smith and Mendeecees Harris from Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.

The two big categories of the night, perhaps the MTV equivalent to the Oscar’s “Best Picture,” are “Best Docu-Reality Series” and “Best Reality Star.” For “Best Docu-Reality Series,” the nominees are Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, Selling Sunset, Summer House, and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

And finally, the nominees for “Best Reality Star” are all over the place. You have Chris “CT” Tamburello for his 900th appearance on The Challenge, Chrishell Stause for Selling Sunset (although where would she be without Christine?), Lindsay Hubbard from Summer House, Teresa Giudice from The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and Willow Pill, the current reigning from RuPaul’s Drag Race.
