Melissa Gorga Says Filming Season 13 Of Real Housewives Of New Jersey Took A “Heavy Toll” On Husband Joe Gorga Amid Family Drama

After 10 seasons on Real Housewives of New Jersey, Melissa Gorga and husband Joe Gorga have been through A LOT. But Season 13 appears to be a whole different animal and the relationship between the two and Teresa Giudice is at an all-time low.

Now Melissa is speaking out about just how hard this season was on Joe. She recently told People, “I think Joe was like, ‘I’m out.’ Joe was sitting in the corner, couldn’t fake it. He is a very heavy mind this season. He’s upset for a lot of reasons that you really don’t hear until the end and so he was not faking it,” she added.

The longtime housewife was committed to keep “trucking on” despite everything. But she added of Joe, “He couldn’t even bring himself to a lot of the events. He was like, ‘I’m good.'”

As far as the family drama with Teresa, Melissa admitted, “We don’t wish this on anyone. This is not the fun part, if I’m being honest. It’s just not. I don’t know why it has to be this way, I always say that.” She continued, “I feel like it could have gone completely a different way, but we don’t control everything. There’s two sides.”

Season 13 of RNONJ wasn’t only hard to film, but hard to watch according to Melissa, who joined the franchise for Season 3. She noted that it is “one of the tougher ones” for her to watch. The mother of three explained, “It’s equal to probably season three, which was the toughest. I feel like we’ve gone backwards, unfortunately and for family reasons as far as that goes, so it always makes it a little bit tougher because that’s where it gets sad and nobody wants to do sad,” Melissa added.

News of just how bad things had gotten between Melissa, Joe and Tre came out during filming. Even though the family has gotten into actual physical fights on camera, they tried and tried again to patch things up.

But after the Season 12 reunion, where Teresa called Joe a “b–ch boy,” Joe seemed as though he reached a breaking point. He stormed off set, saying that he quit. Tre eventually talked him back onto the stage, but things seemed to deteriorate from there.

By the time Teresa walked down the aisle with Luis “Louie” Ruelas, Melissa and Joe weren’t there for the big day. Rumors circulated that their absence was a result of a blow-out fight during filming of the season finale. Allegedly, Melissa and Joe blame Tre for a role in spreading lies about Melissa being unfaithful.

While Melissa and Joe have laughed off the rumors, they were more serious when it came to their decision to skip Teresa and Louie’s big day. On an episode of Melissa’s podcast, Melissa Gorga On Display, Joe was especially candid about the decision not to go. “To me, it was devastating. It really was. It was one of the hardest days of my life. It was bad,” he revealed.

Joe continued, “But listen: let’s go back to the reunion. She did this, you know? This was all on her. This is what she really wanted.” He continued, “She didn’t want [Melissa] in the wedding, she didn’t want any of my children in the wedding, she barely wanted me.”
