Bethenny Frankel Vows to Never Make Reality TV Comeback: ‘Children Are Traumatized’

Former Real Housewives of New York City star Bethenny Frankel is beyond busy. She reviews beauty products on social media and sounds off on stories about celebrities like Meghan Markle. And Bethenny is the mother of a teenage daughter, Bryn Hoppy.

Bethenny kicked off the reality reckoning in her spare time. She believes that reality stars deserve better treatment, and called on stars to unionize. “They’re calling me Erin Brockovich,” Bethenny stated. No word on who Bethenny was referencing. Maybe her glam team? She also called out Andy Cohen … again. “He’s watching Gladiator, watching everyone rip each other apart and being entertained by it.”

Of course, some other reality stars, and plenty of fans, have noted that Bethenny received a ton of attention for her stance. And some believe that Bethenny led the charge to stay relevant.

No more reality TV for Bethenny Frankel

Bethenny told STELLA Magazine (via MailOnline) “I see reality television through a different lens because my daughter is embarrassed.” The Skinnygirl mogul added, “There’s not a world where I would go back, because she finds it trashy.”

Bethenny is a product of reality TV. Meanwhile, she has benefitted greatly by promoting her businesses. Now Bethenny has a problem with families, and kids, being on reality shows.

“The powers-that-be can be very convincing, which is why there are so many children and spouses on reality TV. They don’t want to be on, and they get chewed up and spat out in the process,” she stated. “As they get older, they’re embarrassed.”

Bethenny added, “They’re traumatized. They have emotional issues. That’s something you didn’t know you were signing up for.” I don’t think that all kids featured on a reality show have a negative experience. It is up to their parents to decide how often they should be featured. If at all.

Bethenny is being a great mom by closing the door on a reality return for Bryn’s sake. No question. But alleging that other children were “traumatized” by being on reality shows may be a stretch.
