Wasn’t it great to have Southern Charm back last week? It is one of my favorite shows and the seasons never seem to last long enough. It will certainly be a different show without Thomas Ravenel, but it looks like we will be hearing a lot about him throughout the season. For better or worse-probably worse! My favorite part of the premiere show was definitely the dinner party at Patricia Altschul’s house, which was as wonderfully strange as any of her gatherings.
Austen Kroll was one of Patricia’s dinner invitees and for the most part was a low-key party guest. Low-key would not be the words to describe an embarrassing video that surfaced last summer of Austen and his new girlfriend Madison LeCroy, however. In the video clip, Madison appeared to catch Austen in a threesome while stopping by his house early in the morning. Understandably, an argument ensued in the video, which was apparently taped by one of Austen’s “houseguests.” And now Austen is telling his side of the story.
Hallelujah, Southern Charm fans! The gang is finally back and the first show of Season 6 did not disappoint.
During a dinner party at Patricia Altschul’s modest abode, gossip was flying about a recent summer hook up between Kathryn Dennis and Whitney Sudler-Smith. So did Kathryn see Whitney’s delicate things? Do we really want to know?
He’s got money, he’s in magazines….the tabloids! Last night, Southern Charm made it’s much anticipated return with one missing piece, one Mr. Thomas Ravenel, who is sitting out this round due to several alleged sexual assault accusations. We do get our OG Charmers–Cameran Eubanks, Kathryn Dennis, Shep Rose, and Craig Conover. To say I cannot wait for this season to unfold would be an understatement!
The format remains the same…we follow the Charmers through their morning routines. The only difference is this group of noon sleepers are all actually early-rising adults. One by one, they recap their thoughts on the allegations against T-Rav and his subsequent arrest. Kathryn talks to Danni Baird and Craig. Shep admits to Austen Kroll that he’s yet to check in on the mother of two. Chelsea Meissner and Naomie Olindo (added to the credits this season, congrats!) joke about whether what’s her name will stay with Thomas if he goes to jail. Cameran is wisely pleading the fifth. She doesn’t want to risk a lawsuit from the Litigious Lothario.
Southern Charm is back for Season 6 tonight. Thomas Ravenel is not on the show. This also means that his on-again-off-again girlfriend Ashley Jacobs will not be making regular appearances. Although she does pop up at some point.
Nevertheless, the cast does have Thomas on their minds and his name in their mouths. Even though he’s no longer a cast member, Thomas is still a conversation topic. So much for suing Bravo to prevent that.
Craig Conover of Southern Charm is often the target of teasing and harsh judgements by his co-stars. Shep Rose, Cameran Eubanks, Whitney Sudler-Smith and other cast members love to give Craig a hard time over almost everything, including his stylish clothing, fondness for pot-stirring and continuing inability to decide on a career.
Maybe the part of Craig’s life that takes the most hits, however, is his love of sewing. Craig has not been shy about his enjoyment of the creative process of sewing and his fellow Charmers often don’t seem to understand it. Especially regarding his lack of follow through with taking his hobby to the next level and turning it into a business, which Craig has claimed he has wanted to do. Now, Craig is proving his detractors wrong as he has taken some real steps to make his artistic passion a part of his livelihood.
The only bridge Thomas Ravenel has not burned in Charleston is the Ravenel Bridge. The disgraced Southern Charm alum says being on the show was the worst mistake of his life. This seems surprising given how many mistakes there are to choose from.
Thomas’s “mistakes” include a sexual assault case. He also sued Bravoto stop them from broadcasting unaired footage. There is also his long term custody battle with Kathryn Dennis. Thomas tried to drag Patricia Altschul into court to question her. However, Patricia legally declined the
Don’t you miss Southern Charm? I got hooked on the show last year during Season 5-and then watched every episode from Season 1 on. Sometimes more than once, which I almost never do. Who would think a bunch of privileged Charleston residents could be so interesting?
Most of the success of the show lies with the brilliant casting. From 20-something Kathryn Dennis to in her late 70’s Patricia Altschul, there is someone for almost everyone to identify with. And the ringleader of the show is none other than almost middle-aged Shep Rose. Who is usually ready to offer his unsolicited advice on how others should behave. Unfortunately, Shep sometimes does not follow his own advice. And now, he has gotten himself into a bit of hot water over some unseemly behavior at a golf tournament.
Thomas Ravenel must like the inside of a courtroom. The former Southern Charm star currently has a variety of cases in the South Carolina legal system. One of them is (say it with me now) an alleged sexual assault case. Another one is a long term custody war with ex-girlfriend, Kathryn Dennis.
Thomas and Kathryn are parents to daughter Kensington, and her little brother, Saint Julien. T-Rav employs a new strategy in his case against Kathryn, but is he trying to play a chess game with checkers moves? The back and forth is ongoing and only the children have remained consistent. Kensie and Saint seem like pawns in this brutal family battle that refuses to end.
