One of the most underrated characters throughout all seven seasons of Southern Charm is Patricia Altschul’s partner-in-crime, Michael the Butler. Michael and Patricia are the epitome of class and old wealth in Charleston. Michael is always around to photograph Patricia in her dog-covered caftans and make her the perfect martini afterward. He’s seen plenty of characters come and go from Southern Charm, and through Patricia’s mansion, which means you could only imagine the secrets he’s harboring. And he’s more than just an employee — he’s really a part of Patricia and Whitney Sudler-Smith’s little family. Including their sophisticated pups.
Southern Charm fans were heartbroken to hear when Michael Kelcourse suffered a spinal cord stroke at the beginning of this year. Patricia shared a website with updates on his recovery, which she has said is “progressing rapidly” since the stroke. Michael has since been moved into an assisted living facility for rehabilitation. And it looks like Patricia and Whitney have been by his side to wait on him hand and foot for a change.
Both Pat and Whitney recently shared updates on Michael’s progress as he continues to recover at a facility in Atlanta. Whitney paid a visit to Michael and posted a photo next to him, calling him a “man of indomitable spirit.” Alum Cameran Eubanks commented “SUPERMAN” on the post. And Landon Clements and Real Housewives of New York alum Kelly Bensimon commented a few heart emojis to show their love.

Patricia posted the same photo on her page to comment on Whitney’s “great visit” with Michael. She added that he’s “working hard with his physical therapy” and that Michael can receive messages at CaringBridge, the facility he’s staying at.

Southern Charmers past and present, including Craig Conover, Madison LeCroy, Kathryn Dennis, Austen Kroll, Leva Bonaparte, Naomie Olindo, Taylor Ann Green and John Pringle all liked the posts. It’s clear that the show is nothing without Michael as its rock in the center, and everyone in Charleston is looking forward to the butler making a full recovery. And after all of that, he deserves a perfect martini made by Patricia for a change.
