It's been quite some time since we parted ways with those crazy kids from The Hills. With the exception of the two queen bees and arch rivals Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari, most of the cast from the Hills and it's predecessor Laguna Beach have faded off into obscurity, only managing a place in the spotlight thanks to DUI mug shots and quickly canceled reality shows.
As you recall, LC had her fill of bad boys, setting her sights on Jason Wahler in high school. After a brief fling, he disappeared, only to resurface as her main squeeze on The Hills. The poor guy clearly has had his issues with alcohol, and their relationship was very volatile. After Jason, Lauren found comfort in the arms of Doug Reinhardt, a former baseball player and total jackleg. He was so skeezy I needed to shower after watching a scene with him in it. Bless his little rich Laguna heart was he a dolt!
In the beginning there was a housewives franchise for any given night of the week, and then, there was Watch What Happens Live. I must admit I was beside myself when Andy Cohen decided to make his fete a nightly deal. I guess I overestimated the amount of guests who would entertain me in the clubhouse. I don't care about has-beens or random current reality stars that know nothing of all things Bravo. I want dish and dirt and a worthy jackhole.
Ask and ye shall receive. My Monday night WWHL was everything I like to see happening in the clubhouse. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills'Taylor Armstrong was present to clear up any rumors that she needed and intervention, and, I'll be honest, as much as I dislike her on the show, she was pretty funny and self-depreciating with ol' Andy. Joining her was The Hills'Kristin Cavalarri who looked fabulous after just having a baby boy. MTV's resident bitch was likeable and (dare I say it?) hilarious during her debut night in the clubhouse.
Admittedly, I didn’t think I would get as caught up in Dancing With The Stars’ final three as I actually did. Embarrassingly, I didn’t think I’d be this happy for Rob Kardashian finally doing something that didn’t involve his sisters, and he’s clearly improved tenfold throughout the season. Don’t get me wrong… I still love J.R. Martinez and I have serious respect for Ricki Lake. At least I won’t be (too) disappointed if my favorite doesn’t win the “coveted” mirror ball trophy!
As to be expected, there was a lot of fluff on last night’s finale show, but that always happens when ABC tries to drag out forty-five minutes of content into two hours of programming. It’s almost as bad as the engagement episode of any Bachelor/Bachelorette season. Each of the final three’s Monday performances are highlighted. Rob goes into the final night three points ahead of both Ricki and J.R. Rob and J.R. both managed to wrangle perfect 30s as well. Before getting into tonight’s portion of the competition, Lady Antebellum (love!) performs a song off their latest album.
Each contestant will hit the dance floor one more time to perform what they believe to be their strongest dance of the season. First, Ricki and partner Derek Hough perform their tango. Len Goodman calls it one of the most memorable dances of any season, while Bruno Tonioli proclaims it “unforgettable.” He’s so dramatic! Carrie Ann Inaba continues with the love fest and Ricki seems to have had a very strong finish.
Rob and Cheryl Burke are dancing the foxtrot at Rob’s request. He wants to improve upon the dance from the first time they performed it. As the Kardashian Klan watches on — Kris is even krying! — he proves he really has come a long way in this competition. Rob has a (very) minor slip-up… so minor, in fact, that I had to rewind to see it after host Tom Bergeron congratulated him on his “nice recovery.” Carrie Ann says she’s so proud of Rob, while Len gushes — yes, GUSHES! — about how Rob does some of the best footwork of any male contestant he’s seen on the show. Ever. That is quite some praise!
J.R. and Karina Smirnoff decide to revisit their jive, although they must tweak it a bit to appease the judges critiques of the dance the first time around. Carrie Ann calls him a “catalyst of joy” before citing his sloppiness in the middle of the routine. She also professes to miss the lift they eliminated from the dance because she penalized them for it their first go-round. Huh? Len spends most of his speech recognizing the wonderful band and singers, but seems to feel the same way everyone else feels about J.R. You can NOT smile when you see him dance. Bruno exclaims that he “LOVED IT!”
For the judges, Ricki is in the top spot earning 30 points, with J.R. garnering 28, and Rob in third with 26. After adding the point to Monday’s scores, Ricki leads, Rob is in second and J.R. is in third, although only one point separates each competitor from the next. In another filler moment that lasts far too long, a blooper reel of the judges is shown. Seriously, this whole finale really only needs to last an hour.
One couple will be eliminated before the final dance of the evening. After lots of dramatic pauses, WHAT? Ricki and Derek are eliminated. I did NOT see that one coming. She’s been such a fan and judge favorite. J.R. and Rob look totally shocked. I swear Rob has tears in his eyes. True to form, Ricki goes out like the total class act that she is.
After highlighting some of the season’s shocking moments, some of the first “stars” to be voted off return to dance again. Metta World Peace and Elisabetta Canalis perform with their partners followed by Kristin Cavallari. Chyna Phillips returns for another shot at the dance that sent her home after she froze on stage and forgot her routine. The always entertaining Carson Kressley vogues, and Nancy Grace shakes her medieval groove thang. Chaz Bono and David Arquette take to the dance floor again before another performance from Lady A, singing their hit Need You Now. A less sour Hope Solo and a less combative (I hope) MaksimChmerkovskiydance again as well.
It’s time for the final dance for J.R. and Rob, competing with a quick instant Samba to unknown music. J.R. and Karina dance first with a strong routine, but Rob and Cheryl are equally (dare I say more?) fierce. Len gives a rare standing ovation for both couples. Bruno believes both contestants are “brilliant” while Carrie Ann declares them both as winners. The judges give three perfect 10s to both J.R. and Rob. It’s all up to the viewer votes now! I love that Rob and J.R. seem to have become really good friends. After a long and entertaining season, the mirror ball trophy goes to…
J.R. Martinez!!! Woohoo!! I am beyond thrilled. What an amazing guy and I am so happy to see Karina’s first DWTS victory.
WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE FINALE? DO YOU THINK THE RIGHT PERSON WON? HOW GREAT WAS IT TO SEE THE COMRADERY AMONG THE CONTESTANTS?
Fast forward to today and it doesn’t appear things will be looking up for Kimmie Kakes anytime soon. According to the upcoming issue of Life & Style magazine, out on news stands tomorrow, Kris Humphries aka Kim’s husband of 72 days, is now planning to sue her to the tune of $10 million!
“Kris has a legal team investigating his options,” an insider tells Life & Style. “He’s claiming his role on Kourtney & Kim Take New York is bigger than he was told, and that’s why he wants more money. But Kris is also suing because he’s really worried about how badly he’s going to be portrayed on the series.”
Acc0rding to Life & Style, Kris, 26, is mostly worried about some explosive footage of him “bullying” Kim’s best friend Jonathan Cheban. “Midway through the season, Kris starts bullying Kim’s best friend, Jonathan Cheban, about his sexuality,” shares a pal of Kim. “Jonathan isn’t gay, but Kris accuses him of being gay and criticizes him for it in a really homophobic way. Jonathan is really upset.”
The source close to Kim claims the “bullying” made her very upset. “Kris used the word ‘gay’ as an insult, to try and hurt Jonathan,” an E! insider tells Life & Style. “He’s the lowest of the low bullying someone like this.”
Kris has now reportedly retained lawyer Lee Hutton III and is trying his hardest to prevent his worst moments from being aired on TV.
However, Kris’ family and friends are coming to his defense maintaining that most of Kris’ appearance on Kourtney & Kim was scripted, including scenes in which he questions Jonathan’s sexuality. They also remain adamant that Kris is not homophobic. “Little did Kris know that he was being set up,” his father, William Humphries, tells Life & Style. “Kris got used — 100 percent used.”
Meanwhile, Hills alum andDancing With The Stars contestant Kristin Cavallariis now taking some shots at the Kardashian family! Kristin graces the current issue of Life & Style magazine with a headline that reads: “Betrayed! Scott’s affair with Kristin.”
The article claims that while Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick were on a break two years ago (mind you this was even before Kourtney got pregnant) Scott and Kristin hooked up. The mag went on to claim Kourtney, reportedly friends with Kristin at the time, feels so betrayed and therefore banned Scott from stepping foot on the DWTS set this season due to Kristin being a contestant. And yes, that whole story sounds extremely ridiculous to us as well!
“Scott and Kristin hooked up in Las Vegas [in February 2009] during a time that he was on a break from Kourtney,” an insider told Life & Style. “Kourtney was furious. She and her sisters have called Kristin ‘the whore bag’ ever since.” Oh the nerve of any Kardashian calling anyone else a “whore bag!”
Well, Kristin not only denies the ridic report but also fires back at the Kardashians as she believes they leaked the story to the press in other to take some heat off Kimmie and the backlash she is receiving. Smart girl that Kristin!
“I just think, what convenient timing for them with their show [Kourtney & Kim Take New York] premiering next week. With everything that’s going on for Kim, I feel like they’re trying to take the heat off her,” Kristin said on The Billy Bush Show syndicated radio show.
Kristin continued, “When there’s a big story like that, they always call you and ask if you want to comment and clearly none of them denied it… It’s disrespectful to me and Jay [Cutler, Cavallari’s ex-fiance who she just got back together with], and I think it just says a lot about their character.” Ouch!
Finally, even PETA is getting in on the Trash a Kardashian month as they recently launched a billboard campaign against Kimmie! Us Weekly reports that on the billboard, scheduled to go up in early December, a fur-clad Kimmie sits opposite a sad shot of baby foxes. “Kim: These Babies Miss Their Mother,” reads the sign. “Is She on Your Back?” A picture of the PETA billboard is below!
Meanwhile, Kim made another public appearance yesterday (what happened to staying out of the spotlight?) as she and her family were in the Dancing With The Stars audience to cheer for Rob. A picture of the Kardashian clan is below –
TELL US – DO YOU THINK KRIS WILL GO THROUGH WITH THE LAWSUIT? DO YOU BELIEVE KRIS IS REALLY A JERK OR JUST IMMATURE? THOUGHTS ON KRISTIN’S COMMENTS?
Despite receiving a high score and praises from the judges last Monday, The Hills alum and her partner Mark Ballaswere given the boot on Tuesday night.
Following her elimination, Kristin spoke to UsWeekly and was quite honest about her feelings. “I’m really sad,” said Kristin, 24. “But I’d rather go out on top and have people be shocked than have people be like, ‘Thank god she’s leaving, it’s about time.’ It was the best experience I’ve ever had. I could not be happier that I did the show.”
Kristin then went on to state the obvious that DWTS is clearly not a dance competition but more of a popularity contest! Okay perhaps I added in that last part.
“It is what it is,” mused Kristin. “That’s the thing with Dancing with the Stars, you never know,” she said, laughing. “It’s clearly not a dance competition!”
Kristin however preferred to remain mum when asked about her reconciliation with ex-fiance/NFL quarterback Jay Cutler, stating: “I’m just not talking about it.” Kristin made headlines earlier this year after Jay dumped her out of the blue. The two are now back together.
Kristin also appeared on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! during which she revealed that perhaps not having enough of a “sob story” was part of the reason she was sent packing. The episode called for each celebrity to perform a dance that evoked the most memorable year of their lives.
“Maybe I didn’t have a good enough story. It’s hard to compete with memorable years. Mine was I graduated from high school and moved to L.A,” said Kristin. A new episode of DWTS airs tonight on ABC.

TELL US – DO YOU AGREE WITH KRISTIN’S COMMENT THAT DWTS IS NOT A DANCE COMPETITION? SHOULD THE JUDGE’S SCORES HOLD MORE WEIGHT?
Three weeks into Dancing With The Stars, the audience finally got a taste of the season’s first shocking elimination!
Despite giving a strong performance on Monday night and earning 24 points, The Hills alumKristin Cavallarifound herself in the bottom three alongside other good performers such as Hope Solo and Carson Kressley.
Safe were the lowest two scorers — Chaz Bonoand Nancy Grace. Unfortunately for Kristin, 24, she was sent packing though she and partner Mark Ballas earned their highest scores of the season on Monday.
“I’m a little surprised, to be honest,” said Kristin after learning her fate. “But I’ve had such a great time and it’s been an awesome experience, so it is what it is.”
“I was really proud of Kristin,” said Mark, 25. “She had great potential and she killed it last night. I’m honored to be her partner.”
As for Chaz, he counted his lucky stars following Kristin’s elimination as he posted the following on his twitter page: “I wish I could thank each & every one of you personally for your votes. You are the reason Lacey Schwimmer and I ARE DANCING AGAIN next week!!”
TELL US – THOUGHTS ON KRISTIN’S ELIMINATION? SHOULD CHAZ HAVE BEEN VOTED OFF INSTEAD?
