Although I ended up crying for most of the Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney wedding episode of Vanderpump Rules, I never expected to feel that way. This season was full of drunken fighting and it was hard for me (and a lot of the other viewers) to get on board and feel invested in this couple.
A LOT of people hated on Katie throughout the season – she even had her Twitter account on private for a while – but after that finale, a lot more people from the fandom were down with the Schwartz marriage. Unfortunately for them, the reunion was taped way before that finale aired, so I bet that they had a ton of tough questions to answer from the viewers.
The season basically ended with Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz’s wedding that took place in August, but they threw in some stuff about the demise of the Shay marriage at the end since it happened in between the wedding and the premiere date for season five. To the viewers, the writing was on the wall since Shay basically left Scheana by herself for the entire season, but Scheana did not recognize that the marriage was really over until one key moment.
The last Vanderpump Rules episode had to be a tough one for Scheana Marie to watch. She confirmed that Mike Shay cleared out her bank account and ran away without contacting her for days. Then she told him she was meeting with a lawyer to file for divorce. Nevertheless, Scheana seems pretty far-removed from that since she has a new relationship with Robert Valletta.
Not only does Scheana have a new man, but they are serious enough to go on a vacation together. The new couple shared some cute pics from their trip to Amsterdam – which was the perfect distraction from that heartbreaking season finale episode.
It was a big night of commitment for our Schwartzy, the little commitment-phobe that couldn’t. In front of some of his family, and all of his friends, he said “I Do” to Katie Maloney, thus establishing himself Mr. Three-Headed-She Beast. Stassi Schroeder cried tears of pure vodka-poisoned joy that her two best friends were officially, legally soulmates, and then she made Katie swear on her eyeshadow collection that Stassi would always be a part of them. Like a stye?
It was actually a sweet ceremony. Courtesy of Tom, who drank the tequila-aid and suddenly found himself overjoyed to be standing at an altar next to Katie’s drapes of a wedding gown. Oof – that dress: a pair of nude pantyhose someone bedazzled; full body spanks that got Pinterested and sold on Etsy. It isn’t easy being country-cutsey-woodsy-glammy-chic on a budget!

When Vanderpump Rules first started, it was basically the Stassi Schroeder show, which was just fine with me. Those first two seasons were iconic in my eyes. This season is all about Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz’s wedding – and Katie is feeling the heat thanks to her rage texts and drunken arguments.
Stassi had a lot to say in defense of her girl Katie. She also defended herself against Scheana Marie’s claims that Stassi and Kristen Doute excluded her from planning Katie’s wedding events and addressed her breakdown after what she described as her “most embarrassing moment” on the show.
Even though the Vanderpump Rules fans are well aware that Scheana Marie and Mike Shaysplit up back in November 2016, the split was barely addressed this season… until the last few episodes. This means that the split is going to be front and center at the reunion. Not only that, but Scheana accuses Shay of cheating on her during the reunion episodes.
Personally, I am so shocked that Shay even showed up for the reunion since he left Scheana by herself for most of the season. This is especially shocking since Scheana is currently dating Robert Valletta – someone that Jax Taylor has some opinions on, of course.
Ah, reunions. Nowhere will you see more delusion and ugly dresses than at a Vanderpump Rules reunion though. Obviously, I can’t wait. Here to tell us the season five reunion will be the worstest ever is Ariana Madix, who is usually a good judge of things, so I believe her.
The reunion took 10 hours. “It went by in a flash,” insists Ariana. “I think for the most part, I really think I got everything out at the reunion that I needed to say.”
