In old Housewives tradition, new cast members typically spend their first season trying to win over their predecessors. But Real Housewives of Beverly Hills newbie Garcelle Beauvais is certainly broke the mold when she took shots at RHOBH veteran Kyle Richards on Watch What Happens Live last week.
Speaking to Andy Cohen, our newfound shade queen Garcelle held nothing back when it came to her true feelings about Kyle’s ego and her nonexistent welcoming skills. But now Kyle has responded to these digs, and let’s just say they took her by surprise.
Lisa Rinna and Teddi Mellencamp were shocked when they found out about Erika Jayne’s go-go dancer past during the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 10 premiere episode. Erika emphasized that she had a bathing suit on the whole time, which bored Denise Richards.
Meanwhile, Lisa remarked that she couldn’t imagine her daughters dancing for money. That’s when Erika eloquently slammed her friend. Erika told Lisa, “Maybe if I grew up with wealthy parents, I wouldn’t have been working at a place like Shakers.” Exactly. In contrast, Lisa’s daughters leveraged their parents’ moderate fame into modeling careers. Of course, they couldn’t understand the pressure young Erika was under to provide for herself financially.
Season 10 of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is here, and while Lisa Vanderpump is no longer a part of the show, it almost feels like she is. At one time, Teddi Mellencamp was Lisa’s precious little “Teddi Bear.” But that friendship didn’t last long.
Last season, Teddi and Lisa’s relationship imploded over the “puppy gate” fiasco. Lisa stopped filming with her RHOBH co-stars because they all believed that she leaked the story about Dorit Kemsley’s doomed puppy adoption to the tabloids. Lisa skipped the reunion and put the show in her rearview.
We are only one episode into Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and I’m already loving Garcelle Beauvais. Anyone who shows up and shows out in leopard print for their first big housewives scene is fabulous. While we didn’t get as much Garcelle as I would have liked, I feel like she has come to save this franchise from becoming stale. Ever since Lisa Vanderpump’s exit last season, I think us fans were wondering what these ladies could possibly bring to the table. They spent so many years trying to get LVP off, what could possibly be next? And don’t tell me it’s a Teddi Mellencamp pregnancy story line.
But between Garcelle and Sutton Stracke, we might just have ourselves a season. Side note, even as a friend of, looks like Sutton is making quite the splash. I know everyone is going to be focused on the whole Brandi Glanville and Denise Richards hook up. But we need other housewives to add some much needed input outside of that. RHOBH has long relied on the same cast of characters to drive plot lines, leaving the rest in the dust. For example, Teddi. Even when she was involved in puppygate, she had a bit part and was overshadowed by Kyle Richards and Lisa Rinna. But I suppose it takes quite the personality to not get lost in the shuffle. It also takes some very thick skin, which Garcelle seems to have. Even with thick skin, it doesn’t mean she couldn’t use a little sage advice for her debut.
Did you guys miss Real Housewives of Beverly Hills? I was worried the first episode would be a snooze fest but I thought it was pretty entertaining. After all, what could these women be up to now that they have successfully driven Lisa Vanderpump off the show? Turns out, a lot. We were introduced to newcomers Garcelle Beauvais and Sutton Stracke. Teddi Mellencamp announced she’s pregnant. Lisa Rinna is well, being Lisa Rinna. Same for Erika Jayne. Neither of them really have much to add in the first episode but ok, let’s give them some time. Denise Richards is obviously going to be a focal point of drama for the season, as witnessed by the last few minutes of the episode. But before we get there, we spent pretty much the whole episode watching Kyle Richards fret about her fashion show. Yes, looks like Dorit Kemsley isn’t the only one putting models down a runway. And she won’t let you forget it either.
While Kyle fussed in an anxiety riddled haze, she turned to Dorit for help. Ever the humble one, Dorit tries to give Kyle some direction beforehand. She tells us in the confessional that she’s going to “save Kyle’s show”. Shots fired.
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is back! Own it, baby! What did you guys think of the first episode? I didn’t have high hopes but I thought it delivered a strong introduction to the new season. I could have done without Kyle Richards pretending she’s a fashion designer, but you win some, you lose some. The new housewives made up for my lack of interest in whatever Kyle is doing. Garcelle Beauvais already seems like she’s going to hold her own. And Sutton Stracke brought the true rich lady shade, calling Teddi Mellencamp’s romper outfit “cute”. That was probably her tamest shading too.
There is one big elephant in the room though and her name is Lisa Vanderpump. We watched so many seasons of these ladies do whatever they could to get her off the show. Was anyone actually surprised when it happened? But LVP is gone but clearly not forgotten. In a scene filmed with Sutton, Lisa Rinna affixes a golden crown atop her head and stares in the mirror. In the background, we hear LVP’s famous tagline, “The crown is heavy, darlings. So just leave it where it belongs.” Rinna smirks as she watches herself and likely contemplates who she is going to claim manipulates her this season. Like every season.
Usually, the new cast members on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills suck up to Kyle Richards, the most senior cast member at this point. However, Garcelle Beauvais is not one of those people.
She slammed the dress that Erika Jayne wore in Kyle’s runway show as “frumpy,” which it was and Garcelle just kept the Kyle shade going when she was on Watch What Happens Live last night.
It’s a new dawn on Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills! Kyle Richards kaftans became legit, debuting at NY Fashion Week. Erika Jayne is trying a new way to take heat off her life – being friends with the women. Lisa Rinna is still lecturing everyone about owning it, while not owning that she is overjoyed to be No 1 Lisa. Also, we met new cast members Garcelle Beauvais and Sutton Stracke. So far I love them both!
All the ladies are in NYC for Kyle’s fashion show. One day before Kyle hasn’t even seen most of the collection she so-called designed. She calls Dorit Kemsley in a blind panic because she has no idea what do to prepare for a runway show. Like how to present the collection cohesively? How does one figure out who wears what? Dorit is appalled that Kyle has a line that she basically slapped her name on. Um, isn’t that what Dorit just finished Beverly Beach mediation over?
