It’s expensive to be Erika Jayne– just ask octogenarian and soon-to-be ex-husband Tom Girardi. If you haven’t watched the amazing tabloid spectacle/informative masterpiece: The Housewife and the Hustler yet – Tom is in deep trouble. (Seriously, watch it. Danielle Staub and Dana Wilkey are all over it). According to the documentary, various reports, and whispers throughout the L.A. law circuits, Tom was running a Ponzi-scheme with the funds he’d secure for the victims of big corporate tragedies.
The big question among Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fans has been about Erika Girardi’s involvement. Did she know about Tom’s hideously disgusting scam? Or is she an innocent fawn in the woods? Unfortunately for Erika, it’s looking like she knew something was up.
According to Insider, a “lawsuit claims that Erika Jayne’s husband, Tom Girardi— who has been accused in a separate lawsuit of embezzling money from the widows and orphans of plane-crash victims — gave her $20 million in loans from funds taken from his Los Angeles law firm.” Yikes.
While “Insider has not been able to independently view the court filing,” the lawsuit claims, “according to the new ABC News special ‘The Housewife and the Hustler,’” that Tom, “transferred the money from the firm Girardi Keese to the ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star’s company EJ Global.” EJ being the initials of Erika Jayne.
Neither Tom nor Erika have responded to requests for comment – because, duh. Still, the allegations in the documentary and these lawsuits paint a sad picture. That picture makes it seem as though Tom grifted his way through law to fund Erica’s alter ego and their lifestyle on RHOBH.

It’s not okay to steal from anyone. But if these allegations are true – Tom made the conscious choice to steal from actual “widows and orphans” of a tragic plane crash, so Erika could spend $40,000 on glam to perform as a cheap pop star. That is just on a whole other level.
This is essentially what is filed in another complaint against Tom, reviewed by Insider, that “alleges that Girardi instead kept the money ‘for his own purposes and doled it out to his friends and family,’ including Jayne.”
“At the heart of this deception is that, ‘to keep up their celebrity status, Tom and Erika must project a public image of obscene wealth at all times, and at whatever the cost’.” Allegedly, Tom found a way to do just that. Time will tell what happens to them, including whether or not Erika will continue to have a job with Bravo. Do we know if you can pat the puss in prison?
