What a tangled web Austen Kroll has weaved on this season of Southern Charm. He’s still reeling from his off-season threesome drama. Austen hasn’t been totally dumped by Madison LeCroy. At least not yet.
Despite the advances by newest cast-member John Pringle, Austen and Madison have remained committed to each other. For whatever reason, this seems to have drastically upset Craig Conover. Maybe because his temporary landlord and drinking buddy is too busy to hang out? Like, I really don’t get what Craig’s issue is.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is here and a complete hit so far! Almost every scene in the first episode had fans’ jaws on the floor. The women brought fashion, a variety of cultures and religions, and a marriage to a former relative! Even Whitney Rose’s vow renewal caught fans’ attention. That’s right. A vow renewal to start her career as a Housewife. A choice and a half.
Any professional reality TV watcher knows a vow renewal is the kiss of death to a marriage on TV. There’s Vicki Gunvalson and Donn Gunvalson, Cynthia Bailey and Peter Thomas (barf), and Ramona Singer and Mario Singer. To name just a few.
It’s no secret that Southern Charm has been a Bravo problem child lately. Or maybe since it’s inception? No one can forget Thomas Ravenel’s disgusting past. This recent off-season also caught some flat-out racism from Kathryn Dennis.
Since season 7 began, the cast has been relentlessly going after each other off screen. They are also having to face a metric ton fan criticism. In our newest phase of reality TV and activism, the fourth wall has been demolished.
This season of Southern Charm seems to have a very new vibe. There’s a new cast, but there’s also a new energy. Maybe it’s because three of our main ladies have exited stage left. In their place, we’ve added Leva Bonaparte and John Pringle. John has almost immediately started trying to swoop in on cast-mate Austen Kroll’s girlfriend, Madison LeCroy.
Unsurprisingly, Austen is starting to get pissy with John and seemingly the other guys. He’s also been majorly dishing his true thoughts on his other cast members recently.
If you haven’t seen the premiere episode of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City…RUN…don’t walk. This show is an absolute stunner and I couldn’t be happier to have a Housewives franchise that isn’t fully played out. These women absolutely brought in in their debut. One of the new Housewives, Mary Cosby, is a Pentecostal preacher that married her step-grandpa. I mean. What more are you looking for in a show?
Our first episode featured Jen Shah throwing a party for Meredith Marks that featured absolutely nothing about Meredith and everything about Jen. That is some big center-Housewife energy. These women are competitive and are already pressed for the spotlight. But do any need the work? And which one has the most secured bag?
It’s no secret that the Black Lives Matter movement has altered the world of reality television. Whether they’ve stated it’s in response to the movement or not, Bravo has been casting shows including more women of color lately. Eboni K. Williams and Leva Bonaparte come to mind. While Leva says she doesn’t believe in race, Eboni reports that the RHONY crew will be discussing race point blank. Even some diversity of thought!
Bravo has also had to face several accusations of casting racist reality stars over the years. I can’t think of a single Housewives franchise that hasn’t been under fire for racism at some point. And they’re not alone. CBS has come under fire too. Remember Big Brother’s season 21 winner, Jackson Michie? For those who missed it, he was announced as the winner and then immediately grilled on all his racist decision making during the season. On Live TV. What a treat.
Carole Radziwill hasn’t stopped talking about Real Housewives of New York since she left. After her exit, Carole used every play in the petty ex- handbook to keep the attention. She has spontaneously accused her former co-stars of doing hard drugs while filming. She went after Andy Cohen for taking Bethenny Frankel’s side during their friendship feud. And since we all remember that she had the most unnecessary grudge with Tinsley Mortimer, let’s not forget how she flamed her publicly too.
I don’t really get why Carole is still trying to get into the RHONY mix, but I’m here for all the details. And like a cat to a couch from the 60’s, she just. won’t. quit.
Southern Charm has had a fair amount of recasting this season. The show lost Naomie Olindo, Chelsea Meissner, and Cameran Eubanks. They added new cast members, Leva Bonaparte and John Pringle. While Leva is carrying on Cameran’s tradition of beefing with Kathryn Dennis, John is just being another grown-ass man-child chasing unavailable women. Don’t we already have enough of those on the show?
Shep Rose really is the only one we need to get our healthy dose of deadbeat with this franchise. He’s finally old enough, at 40, to use the world girlfriend for goodness sake. He’s really going for the good guy edit this year. Maybe he’s finally taking feedback from his previous years seriously.
