Denise Richards Settles $20,000 American Express Debt; Lawsuit Against Her Is Dismissed

Denise Richards made it through her first season of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills relatively unscathed. Sure, she talked up her sexual exploits, including the creepy happy-endings massage with an older woman she arranged for hubby Aaron Phypers. Denise also dished on her ex Charlie Sheen bringing a hooker to Thanksgiving dinner. And on occasion, she liked to have a few cocktails and let loose. Really loose. Marital secrets loose.

Despite being a long-time celebrity, Denise did not outwardly appear to have a lot in common with her RHOBH co-stars. She was not prone to stir up drama, for the most part. Except with Camille Grammer. Denise didn’t really want to compete in the fashion game with the other ladies. So what does she have to chat about with her co-stars? After a recent legal settlement, Denise can at least use lawsuits as a conversation starter.

According to documents obtained by The Blast, Denise has paid off a $20,307.73 debt owed to American Express. You know, the credit card company famous for the old “Don’t leave home without it” campaign. Unless of course, your card has been cancelled due to non-payment. Then bring another card or cash with you.

Lucky for her, Denise is now an official member of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Messy Lawsuits Club. Charter members include Dorit Kemsley, Erika Jayne and Kyle Richards. The only club rule is that you must avoid talking about your legal matters on-camera at all costs.

Compared to the lawsuits of her co-stars that run in the millions of dollars, Denise’s lawsuit is small potatoes. Dorit and hubby PK Kemsley have been in multiple lawsuits for past due debts. Erika has been caught up in her husband Tom Girardi’s legal issues that won’t go away. No matter how much she dismisses them. And Mauricio Umansky has a pending real estate lawsuit wife Kyle surely wishes would disappear.

Denise’s American Express lawsuit was dismissed when she paid up, according to The Blast documents. Funny how that works–you pay your debts and your credit cards work in the check out lane at Target. Maybe Denise can share some of her tips on how to settle a lawsuit with Dorit. You can’t run forever, Mrs. Kemsley!

Fortunately for Denise, she will still have another lawsuit to talk about with her co-stars next season. At least off-camera. Denise is alleging that her ex Charlie owes $450,000 in back child support. Which is a lot of backpacks and after school snacks.

Denise’s co-stars might not have much empathy for her, however, as she is trying to obtain money she claims she is owed. Her co-stars and their spouses are involved in lawsuits they may have to pay out on. They probably don’t want to hear about it, Denise! These are women who should not only have lawyers on retainer–they should consider having legal teams camping out in their guest bedrooms.

Will the ladies talk more about their legal matters next season? Will Lisa Rinna use her co-stars legal issues against them for a storyline? We will have to tune in next season to find out. And remember ladies, if someone is trying to hand you a piece of paper out in public, it might not be a pesky fan wanting an autograph–it could be a process server giving you notice of your next lawsuit.
