Vicki Gunvalson Real Housewives Of Orange County

Real Housewives Of Orange County Alum Vicki Gunvalson Gives Kelly’s Dodd Leventhal’s Marriage 5 Years

Real Housewives don’t always leave quietly.  Even less so for veterans with big egos like Vicki Gunvalson.  She’s the OG of the OC, and probably feels a sense of entitlement in sharing her opinion about anything Real Housewives of Orange County.

And certainly there’s a lot to talk about.  RHOC just had a big cast shakeup.  Elizabeth Lyn Vargas, Braunwyn Windham-Burke, and Kelly Dodd Leventhal were all axed after completing Season 15.  Tamra Judge is hinting at a return to the series, and alum Heather Dubrow’s comeback has been confirmed.

Vicki simply MUST be consulted if anything happens on the RHOC.  She’s earned it, let’s give her that.  So Vicki was invited onto The Sl-t Pig podcast to discuss the latest comings and goings.  Kudos to host Christian Gray for monetizing on that epic Kim Richards insult.

The subject of Kelly came up first.  Specifically her marriage to Rick Leventhal, and Vicki is not one to shy away from a chance to throw shade.  Rick and Kelly are barely a year wed, and Vicki is already predicting their downfall.  Well, she was right about Meghan King Edmonds and Jim Edmonds separating within the same time frame.

According to RealityBlurb, Vicki was surprised by Kelly’s firing though.  She thought shrill Shannon Beador would be gone first.  She said, “I actually thought it was going to be Shannon. Because Kelly, you always have to have someone to hate and she’s got a lot of fans. She’s beautiful to look at. She’s got great style. So I never really thought they’d get rid of her.”

Braunywn’s firing surprised no one, and Vicki, for one, was not disappointed.  In fact, Braunwyn’s departure may change her mind about returning to the show if asked.  Yes, that’s how much she dislikes the mother of seven.  Although how much time she spends being a mother is questionable.

“I knew they’d get rid of her,” Vicki said, “she just doesn’t fit into middle America.  When you are married and living with your husband and having seven children and never publicly showing that [you’re] with [your] kids, she’s with everybody else but her kids. She’s got little babies. I don’t agree with her motherhood but look at her mom. I don’t think she fit into what a housewife is.”

Elizabeth made no impact on RHOC viewers and less so on Vicki.  She simply called Elizabeth a cast member with, “no substance.”  Moving on.

Emily Simpson is another housewife of “no substance” according to Vicki, though it seems that her greatest crime is not keeping up with the other girls.  Keeping Emily and Gina Kirschenheiter for Season 16 is another head-scratcher.  Vicki said, “I know that Gina has become a Bravo favorite. I think they love the New York thing in her. Shocked on Emily, actually. I just don’t see substance. She doesn’t really know how to whoop it up.”

What about the rumors that Tamra is returning to the series?  Vicki celebrated July 4th with Tamra and has the tea on the matter.  “Tamra and I talked, she like, ‘I don’t know where they’re getting that from.’  There is no contract.” It’s conflicting info because Tamra recently teased a return on social media.  It’s a wait and see game with this one.

As for Vicki, well she would be thrilled to come back.  Even for a “friend” role.  Do you hear that Bravo?  Speaking for herself and Tamra, Vicki revealed, “the truth of the matter is if she got called and I got called as a friend role, we absolutely would probably come back on.”

Will matriarch Shannon be able to share the spotlight again?  Perhaps only Tamra will be asked to return.  If that were the case, Vicki said, “it would hurt my feelings but I would say, ‘Go for it.”  Poor Vicki.  She’s still living in the nostalgia of reigning supreme in the OC.  Vicki described losing the gig, “I miss it. Tamra and I were together for July 4th and we talk about it. It’s hard to be fired.”

They left it on bad terms, but Vicki said she has no bad feelings towards Shannon.  “[I’d say], ‘Hi, give me a hug!” she expressed.

Season 16 is currently in the works.  Production for the highly anticipated season started in early July.
