“Our marriage is over, I’m out of there!” a gleeful Kelly confirmed in a statement. “It’s best if we went our separate ways and concentrate on our daughter.”
It seems we can’t go for one season or even one episode with some sort of cancer-related drama on The Real Housewives of Orange County. Although this week it’s not about Brooks Ayers for once. Newbie Peggy Sulahian is addressing her breast cancer diagnosis and her frustration with two-faced co-stars.
Peggy shares in her blog that she feels Shannon Beador is weighed down by her marriage troubles and hopes she finds a way to cope, “Kelly may be onto something when she said that Shannon is frustrated about her marriage and her self-esteem is getting in the way. As women, we carry a heavy toll and when we get burdened down, many things fall apart. As the anchor to any family. Shannon needs to find some time for herself and deal with her issues.”
Knowing that Lydia McLaughlin was going to be one of the guests on Watch What Happens Live, I was expecting a soft interview with lots of shameless plugs for her magazine. Surprisingly enough, only the latter was true. Fans who called in and tweeted questions for the Real Housewives of Orange County star really went in with the questions.
Lydia was almost as flustered as Shannon Beador was at Ava’s birthday party when Lydia kept mentioning Vicki Gunvalson. Lydia was almost as thrown off as Shannon and Tamra Judge were after Kelly Dodd “unexpectedly” showed up to dinner when Lydia actually invited her. I’m trying (and failed) to think of some way to incorporate the words “pot stirrer” into that old “pot meet kettle” expression, but if you’ve been watching RHOC, then you probably get what I’m going for: viewers were stirring shit up with someone who has been accused of stirring shit up.
Last night’s episode of Real Housewives Of Orange County seemed to have a lot going on. Tucked under the little flaps of skin were a million hidden clues, and insinuations, and tepidly it seemed like some pretty interesting shifts were taking place.
For instance, suddenly Tamra Judge is annoyed with Shannon Beador. I say suddenly, but really it’s just that she’s suddenly like perma-annoyed. I get it, obviously – Shannon is a stage five clinger who’s hot glue-gunned to your ass like a sequined bikini in a fitness competition. Anyway, it’s obvious that Tamra is up to something big and she’s not quite aligning herself to anyone, is she? After complaining about Peggy Sulahian, she’s suddenly liking her?! “Peggy’s got balls,” Tamra tells us, smirking.
The Real Housewives of Orange County fans will always appreciate Meghan Edmonds for investigating Brooks Ayers during her first year on the show, but she is just not delivering anything of that caliber this season. It just doesn’t make the most sense for her to be on this show. She didn’t even interact with any other cast members for the first three episodes of this season. She’s reaching for a story line by beefing with Kelly Dodd over a text message conversation (which she started) that went down months before this season started filming.
She went behind Kelly’s back to tell Shannon Beador that Kelly believed their hang out was being secretly recorded. She called up Shannon and Tamra Judge immediately to relay information after she had lunch with Vicki Gunvalson. Other than Peggy Sulahian rudely grabbing Meghan’s lips and pressing them shut, Meghan doesn’t have a legitimate story line so far…. other than stirring the pot. In terms of real life, this is probably a great thing. She’s not undergoing surgery, suffering to shed weight, or getting plates thrown at her. She is doing alright in comparison to many other people in this cast, but as far as the show goes: her story line is lacking.
As of now, Peggy Sulahian has contributed two things to Real Housewives of Orange County: her confusion about idioms and pinching Meghan Edmonds’ lips shut. Not only that, but the rest of the cast is still so caught up in drama from previous seasons that no one even found Peggy grabbing Meghan’s mouth- the one outrageous thing Peggy has done so far- to be remotely offensive .
Two episodes ago, Peggy’s major story line was a drive to mail a letter…. instead of just walking down the driveway to her own mailbox. This week, she sat on the side while the rest of the ladies went at it during Kelly Dodd’s party before she tried to shade Shannon Beador by saying she is “something else.” Of course that got Shannon a little bit riled up, but she ended up getting into a screaming match with Lydia McLaughlin…. again.
The only thing funnier than a group of women wearing hashtag team t-shirts is Vicki Gunvalson still trying to maintain her innocence – in the cancer lies, the Eddie Judge lies, the general lies of a lying liar…you name it! While she may be the OG of the OC, this Real Housewives of Orange County star apparently has only one defense in her arsenal: Deny, deny, deny. Hey – it’s worked for her
with Andy Cohen so far! And in all fairness, it’s worked equally well for so-called arch nemesis Tamra Judge too.
Vicki begins this week’s blog by reflecting on the “high emotions” she experiences every time
Tamra someone accuses her of “blatant lies and fabricated truths.” She’d apparently like to act more like Peggy Sulahian and Lydia McLaughlin, who “stay calm when it came to Shannon [Beador] and the inter-workings of these group of women. I need to learn from them.”
As games of sand volleyball go, Kelly Dodd’s turned out to be one of the dirtiest. And Real Housewives of Orange County’s Lydia McLaughlin thinks no one is more to blame than Shannon Beador, who not only acted as Tamra Judge’s codependent
extremely creepy “protector,” but chose to come unhinged all over Lydia about some under the table leg squeezing.
“What a mess,” reflects Lydia, who initially had high hopes for the volleyball party. (Really? Is she new here?!) “The day started out really fun. Doug and I love the beach and are always excited for some fun in the sun. However, because of my coffee date with Tamra, I knew she and Vicki [Gunvalson] were at odds.” So, Lydia only gleaned this information from her lunch date with Tamra? We knew that Tamra and Vicki were at odds just from living on planet earth!
