Garcelle Beauvais Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills

Garcelle Beauvais Says Sutton Stracke “Is Not A Racist” And Is “Misunderstood” Amid Feud With Crystal Kung Minkoff

During the Season 11 Real Housewives of Beverly Hills premiere, Garcelle Beauvais sat down with Lisa Rinna to address how Lisa had treated Denise Richards the previous season. Denise denied having a sexual encounter with RHOBH alum Brandi Glanville but was repeatedly pushed to address the situation by her co-stars. When Rinna apologized, she thought everything was settled.

Not so fast, Rinna. Garcelle didn’t resume following Rinna on Instagram. “Rinna for me…it’s tough because I felt like she went to a place that was so unnecessary last season,” Garcelle stated.

One RHOBH duo is already bringing the fireworks this season. This may be Sutton Stracke’s sophomore season on the franchise, but this time she has her own diamond. And her own facial roller.

Crystal Kung Minkoff was recommended by RHOBH alum Teddi Mellencamp. Fun fact: Teddi was fired after Season 10, then Crystal was hired. But Teddi’s BFF Kyle Richards still managed to get Teddi some air time this season.

During the girls’ trip to Lake Tahoe, everything went south in a hurry. Kyle told Crystal and Sutton about her conversation with Garcelle regarding the charity auction drama from last season. Kyle pointed out that she didn’t realize that her comments were perceived by Garcelle as being racially insensitive. In particular, the stereotype that Black people do not pay for things.

When Crystal attempted to share her feelings about the racism that she has personally experienced as an Asian woman, Sutton replied that she will not discuss racial stereotypes. “Are you one of those people that you say you don’t see color?” Crystal asked. And everything went downhill from there.

But Sutton’s fireball drinking buddy, Garcelle, has her back. Garcelle told HollywoodLife, “Sutton is not a racist. Nobody on the show is a racist.” Garcelle added, “I think she’s misunderstood.”

Garcelle also pointed out that viewers don’t see everything that transpires on the show. She remarked, “What happens and what people don’t understand: we shoot –we flew to Tahoe, we shot all day, we’re drinking the entire time and when people are talking, they tend to talk over each other.”

Garcelle continued, “I don’t think she was trying to take anything away from Crystal’s story. Sometimes you want to tell your story too and you might talk over a friend, and I think people can be really hard and she owned up to what people were saying in terms of her interrupting Crystal,” Garcelle said.

“She didn’t mean any harm. Just like, I feel like Kyle was trying to prove a point with me in the reunion but I don’t think she was doing it had she’d known the racial undertones,” Garcelle added.

On May 27, 2021, Sutton issued an apology to Crystal on Instagram. “Despite Crystal and my strained relationship at the time, it was disrespectful to interrupt her and not listen to her express her truth,” Sutton wrote. “I am sorry. I will do better and be better.”

Crystal accepted Sutton’s apology, and posted in the Instagram comments, “Now that my platform has grown, I feel I have a duty to speak up for others who don’t yet feel safe using their own voices.” Crystal added, “Listening to one another and validating our different experiences and perspectives are how we will all grow as individuals, and as a society. Thank you for that commitment, Sutton.”
