The dust is still settling after Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz announced their split in March. The pair began living separately in June. Now it’s time for their remaining friends and castmates to pick a side before Season 10 filming begins.
“I think that we really can remain friends. Like, our friendship is really the core of our relationship. That’s kind of what’s carried us through and this far and everything. We just really, genuinely have a great bond,” Katie said after Tom moved out. It begs the question. What friendship?
Tom has been accused of neglecting Katie’s feelings for years. Whatever you think about Katie’s emotions, they’re hers, and Tom decided to spend his life with her. As Lala Kent once put it, “I think when someone continues to not pick you and it’s an easy pick– you’re his–you’re the wife, then it’s like–we’re done.” She added, “I thought that Schwartz would come to the table a little bit, and he still didn’t. So, very telling.” Some friend.
Ariana Madix has a different take, though. She is looking to the stars for her answers and citing Schwatz’s Libra tendencies. According to Us Weekly Ariana explained, “I think that oftentimes — it’s not just Tom with Katie, it’s kind of every situation — he always tries to look at the other side.”
Ariana added, “[That] can be a really great quality to have, but when your significant other is really asking for you to see where they’re coming from and really have empathy for them and be there for them and you’re not doing that … that hurts.” Especially since Katie is an Aries.
For his part, Tom insists that he and Katie still love each other very much and the reason for their split is “Life, you know. It’s complicated.” Sure is. But picking your wife shouldn’t have to be.
And Katie isn’t the only person Tom is on a break with. After struggling to keep things moving in their latest business venture together, Tom Sandoval and Schwartz decided to keep their relationship strictly professional in Season 9 of Vanderpump Rules. With the (I assume) exit of Randall Emmett from filming/casting, it will be a wonder what Schwartz does in Season 10.
