Bethenny Frankel Says That She Saved Sonja Morgan From Almost Being Fired From Real Housewives Of New York; Sonja Reacts

Former Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel has a new podcast, and she is going to take her co-stars on a wild ride. Bethenny’s jam is commenting about celebrities, and now she launched a RHONY rewatch podcast titled, ReWives. She shared the news about her new podcast in a TikTok video posted on Twitter.

Two of Bethenny’s former co-stars weighed in on the project. “Oh lordy…how original,” Carole Radziwill tweeted. “But she did build her brand by trashing& mocking women specifically the HWs & Bethenny always returns to what she does best.”

Luann de Lesseps spoke out about Bethenny’s venture on the podcast, Everything Iconic. “If she s–ts on the show, that means she’s gonna s–t on us on her little podcast about the ‘Housewives,’” Luann told host Danny Pellegrino.

Page Six reported that Bethenny dished on saving Sonja Morgan’s job during Season 10 of RHONY in the premiere of ReWives. “Years later, one of the producers, I will not say who, in the car said, ‘I think we have to let Sonja go,’” Bethenny stated. Bethenny remarked that Sonja was a “disaster” and was only dealing with business issues and her crumbling townhouse.

Bethenny explained, “There was a scene at a restaurant called Cherry, a sushi restaurant, where I just light a match about her and Tinsley [Mortimer.]

Socialite Tinsley had moved in with Sonja during a low point in her life. Sonja managed to get Tinsley on RHONY. When Tinsley’s life started to rebound, Sonja wasn’t happy. Viewers know that Sonja dissed Tinsley as the house guest from hell.

Tinsley started out living in Sonja’s townhouse, and was basically a nobody who had been arrested,” Bethenny remarked. “By up to that point, she had this rich guy sending flowers, and Sonja’s poor and bankrupt.” The Skinnygirl mogul added, “I said something to stir that up, and it lit up Sonja, and she launched, and she did not get let go.”

Bethenny continued, “That is an absolute fact. I have the receipts.” She claimed that “Sonja resurrected herself” that night. Elisabeth Moss, who was Bethenny’s guest on the podcast, asked if she ever told anyone about Sonja nearly getting the ax.

“The girls, they wouldn’t have cared. They wouldn’t have believed it,” Bethenny stated. “But the producers will back it up. A thousand percent.” Bethenny didn’t think that Sonja knew about the situation because she never spilled the beans. “She would totally believe me – she trusts me,” Bethenny added. Not so fast, Bethenny!

According to Page Six, Sonja set the record straight in a statement to Entertainment Tonight. “The top executives, meaning not the producers on the ground, always told me that they could count on me to get epic material at the townhouse with #TeamSonja,” she said.

Sonja continued, “They said they could always get gold filming me even just talking to my poodle, not even having to have a conversation with a person.” She added, “I love Bethenny, and she always has my back. That’s for sure.”

Bethenny was part of the RHONY cast for Seasons 1 to 3 and then 7 to 11 before departing for good.

The show is being rebooted with a new cast for Season 14. There is also a RHONY: Legacy series which will feature former cast members. Sonja is currently filming a show with Luann titled, Luann and Sonja: Welcome to Crappie Lake. That title just rolls of the tongue, doesn’t it?
