Fans of Real Housewives of New Jersey have been wondering why Teresa Giudice was hell-bent on taking Danielle Staub’s side all season. Danielle was a bridezilla who tortured her entire bridal party, which included co-stars Melissa Gorga, Margaret Josephs, and Teresa. I am still trying to cleanse my mind from the images of Danielle and the male strippers from her bachelorette party.
During a tequila-soaked girls’ trip to Cabo, Danielle fought with Margaret. She even stated that Margaret isn’t in touch with her children and not allowed to see her grandchildren because she is an awful person. Remember how talking about kids isn’t allowed on RHONJ? Margaret tossed a glass of wine at Danielle, which resulted in a meltdown of epic proportions, and even more broken wine glasses. (I see you, Jennifer Aydin!) Even more surprising than this rumble in Cabo? Teresa backing Danielle…again.
Well, Teresa is finally explaining her relationship with Danielle. On February 8, Teresa took part in “An Evening with The Celebrity Housewives” along with Dorinda Medley of Real Housewives of New York, and Kelly Dodd from Real Housewives of Orange County.
According to NorthJersey.com, Teresa said, “Yes, I’m still friends with her. If someone is nice to you, how can you be mean to them?” Still, in Season 1, Teresa had no problems flipping a table at Danielle while screaming about Danielle’s impressive list scary number of engagements (19 times.) It is crazy that Teresa continues to side with drama queen Danielle, even over long-time friend Dolores Catania’s warnings.
“When my mom was sick, when my mom first went into the hospital, [Danielle] was always in the hospital with me,” Teresa explained. She told the audience how Danielle called her every day for three months. “She didn’t have to do that, and I have to say that’s why I like her.” Sadly, Teresa’s beloved mother, Antonia Gorga, passed away in 2017.

It appears that Teresa hasn’t totally tuned out what her fellow Jersey Housewives have been saying about Danielle. “Until she backstabs me, I say she’s very nice. Is she my best friend? No. Are we friends? Yes,” Teresa said.
Teresa is facing some challenging times in the days ahead, and no doubt needs all the friends that she can get. In 2014, Teresa and her husband Joe Giudice plead guilty to federal fraud charges. Teresa served nearly one year in prison at camp in 2015. Joe is facing deportation to Italy when he finishes his 41-month jail stint in March of 2019.
Teresa hinted during the filming of the RHONJ reunion that she will not relocate to Italy if Joe is deported. I cannot wait until the reunion to see exactly what else Teresa says about her marriage and Joe’s possible deportation. And we can see if Teresa continues to partner with Danielle during the reunion fireworks.
