Bravo Is Casting For A Real Housewives Of Chicago Series

A new Real Housewives series is supposedly in the works! Housewives fans will either rejoice or recoil at the news. Currently, there are seven series on Bravo’s rotation. Real Housewives of Orange County and Real Housewives of Potomac are on and rocking right now. Season 4 of Real Housewives of Dallas premieres this week, on Wednesday, actually. Sometime this year fans will be able to watch Season 10 (!!) of Real Housewives of New Jersey. In 2020, we’ll get new seasons of Real Housewives of Atlanta, Real Housewives of New York (in spite of losing Bethenny Frankel) and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (in spite of losing Lisa Vanderpump).

That was a lot to write! There are seven series in the Housewives canon! Imagine if Real Housewives of D.C. and Real Housewives of Miami were still on. I would literally get nothing done. Even though my life revolves around watching Housewives, there are simply too many shows to keep up with. Now, my time and attention will become even more limited since the location of this new series hits home!

Bravo is apparently scouting for new housewives in Chicago. This is actually the second time the network has attempted to start a series in Chicago. Back in December of 2018 Jenny McCarthy guest-starred on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and asked him why there wasn’t a series set in her home base. Andy responded, “We cast there once and we just didn’t get it right.” Let’s hope they do this time around! It would be awesome to have at least a distant connection to one of the wives.

News of the potential series broke over Labor Day weekend thanks to a video posted to Instgram.  The account @RealHousewivesFranchise posted a two-second video that depicts a man and woman sitting at a table, laughing, as their friend says in the background, “she’s also trying out for Real Housewives of Chicago right now!”

The camera moves past the pair in the video and zooms in to a sign behind them with the word Chicago underneath the housewives logo. The video is captioned with, “RHOCHICAGO: Looks like a Real Housewives of Chicago might be coming soon to Bravo…Thoughts? #realhousewives #rhochicago.”

Comments on Twitter and Instagram have been mixed. Sadly, I’ve thought a lot about a Real Housewives of Chicago. Midwesterners might be too nice to have the kind of confrontations required to be a standout series (ahem RHONY).

I could, however, be proven wrong. Chicago is such a diverse city, this could be a really great series in terms of representation. Plus, The OG of the OC is from the Chicago suburbs, perhaps she could make a crossover appearance!

TELL US- SHOULD THERE BE A REAL HOUSEWIVES OF CHICAGO? IS SEVEN ENOUGH? WHO SHOULD THEY CAST? WOULD YOU WATCH ANOTHER SERIES?
